Cooling for E6600

I'm about to order all the parts for my new rig. I plan to get the P5B DLX or maybe -E and the E6600. Will attempt a very conservative overclock, but nothing extreme. Based on advice from a friend here are the cooling solutions I'm looking at...

Thermaltake Big Typhoon
Thermalright SI-128
Zalman 9500

I'm open to other suggestions as well. One thing that concerns me about the Typhoon and SI-128 is their huge size. I'm going to be building in a mid-tower case (Coolermaster atc-111c-sx) and would hate to spend $50+ on a heatsink/fan and have it not fit. Also, do I really need such a hardcore cooling solution if I don't plan extreme overclocking?

Thanks,
M

zalman 9500 is nice, but bigtyphoon is better with a 80CFM fan(not much gain from 1100CFM from my experience and 110CFM is too loud)

Scythe Infinity , and tower 120 is prolly the best

tower 120 > scythe infiity > bigtyphoon (with 80CFM fan, stock is 39CFM ...)

but they dont beat each other by a lot , maybe 1 , or 2 degree celcius so if u get an one of them i think ur all set

my set up is in my sig, and i just put a zalman 9500 on it, and my idle is 31c and load is 41c. Like theteamaqua said the ones you listed are all good and are only 1-2c difference in any of them. I went with the zalman because it is on the lighter side of the spectrum and it's quite.

The only reason I vote against the Zalman 9500 is the integrated fan. If it fails your out an entire HSM. I own a Scythe Infinity (in sig) and altho it is big, it seems to do the job well. I would still get a Tuniq Tower 120 if I could. With the latter two you can replace a dead fan.

The Thermalright Ultra-120 is probably a little better than the Infinity for temps with the same FAN. It is more expensive because it doesn't have a fan that comes with it.

I'd be very careful to be sure that your heatsink is going to fit your case. I have a case that uses the same frame (coolermaster praetorian), and even my zalman 9500AT is a pretty tight fit. I really don't think a Thermalright Ultra-120 would fit.

I'm using the 9500AT and happy with it. Another hsf thats getting good reviews and not too expensive is the ArticFreezer 7. All the hsf mentioned so far fit the Conroe processors but make sure it fits with your mobo choice and your case will house it without problems.

what about the Zalman Fatality FS-C77? Anyone have any opinions on that? Looking to get something more affordable (under $50) range.

I guess what I really want to find is a mid-level cooling solution that doesnt take up as much room as the Big Typhoon but will still allow safe overclock of e6600 to around 3.0-3.2ghz. Don't mind paying that kind of price ($50), but would rather avoid such a huge and heavy heatsink/fan. Also, low noise is VERY important to me.

Thanks,
M
