Not sure if this is the right place... figured it might be better than Off Topic or General.
I'm looking for cooling solutions for my A/V cabinet, possibly using PC fans. My PVR box (or dvr/tivo depending on where you live) gets really freaking hot and of course so does my xbox 360. The cabinet is open at the front and back but is pretty deep so both of these units can really heat up the ambient temperature in their shelf. I actually don't have the 360 in the cabinet yet as I'm too scared of frying it.
I'm thinking 1 or 2, 120mm fans could move enough air to keep both of these units from raising the ambient temperature of their respective shelves much above room temp. I've considered just using an old PSU I have kicking around to run the fans but I was wondering if anyone had a better suggestion.
I've googled a bit but I don't seem to be able to find out if you can run PC fans on AC power. I imagine there must be some sort of adapter for this.
Any thoughts? Anyone seen a good application of the type of cooling we take for granted in the PC world, but with an AV cabinet?
Thanks!
