Hey everyone,

I need some advice for the cooling setup of a new computer I'm building. It's going to have the following specs:

Lian-Li PC-7B Plus II
Seasonic S12 Energy+ 650W
Abit IP35 Pro
Intel Q6600/E6850 (Haven't decided yet...) (Stock clock)
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme
EVGA 8800GTS Superclocked

I'd like to keep the system as quiet as possible, however I'm not sure what fans to buy for the system. I was looking at the Scythe S-Flex "D" (800RPM) to replace the two case fans and to put on the heatsink. Would this configuration keep the system relatively cool or should I move up to the "E" (1200RPM) model? Should I consider different fans like Noctua? Also, just based on experience, does anyone think I could run the heatsink fanless?

Thanks very much ,

-Peter

It was on sale with a substantial saving... Also, with a better heatsink I would be able to use a quieter fan (or none!) to still get good temperatures.

Tuniq Tower, with a yate loon DSL series fan. For the Quad.

For the E, almost any after market sink will beat the factory one. If you want quiet, i think you could pull off passive on a PreLapped TR120 EXTREME. But those are kinda pricey.

But it is passive

Thats stock btw, no overclocking. I think you can even pull the quad off passive on stock on a prelapped Ultra120, as long as its not number crunching nonstop.
