Use caution with this deal.

Many hoops to jump through for the rebate.

It's not a deal if the rebate never comes.

What exactly does "*A self addressed stamped envelope with your own return address and rebate registration number" mean?

Do we send an envelope with the rebate submission so they can mail the check back to us? Or are they referring to the envelope we send our stuff in?

Sorry.

I have no problems doing rebates.

I never fail to get the rebates I send for.

And I'm going to keep that streak going by not even trying for this one. Talk about terms only meant to defraud the consumer.

Got my Coolmax enclosure today. Doing the rebate right now. The instructions say you need to include the original UPC AND the original serial number with the form. I don't see any serial number on the box, just a serial number sticker on the enclosure. This is one of the pickiest rebates I have seen. Anyone else see a serial number that can be included?

EDIT: Just found it. It's on the bottom of the box, very small sticker. I'll leave this post here in case others need it.

it's just an OK quality, but well worth free AR. Not worth 30.00 though. By the way, the drive has to be a FAT32 or FAT16 before you install it. The manual says this, and I can confirm that NTFS format will not work on this external drive with 3 different PCs I tried. Had to take it apart, and install the drive by itself to change it to a FAT32, then reassemble it .

ATTENTION.....

USE THE LABEL PROVIDED ON THE REBATE FORM. You need to cut it out and tape it to the envelope your sending....

If you don't, they won't process your rebate. Why? Because its how they recoup expenses....

I wound up canceling this order b/c of this rebate. I've drawn the line here. Its not worth the hassle and increased risk of rejection- even if you follow the instructions.

Bummer on the FAT requirement. Good to know, and will watch out for that in the future. Do most enclosures operate in FAT only?

I find that very odd..... the format of the HD should have nothing to do with the drive being used within the enclosure.

FAT 16/32 only? Odd.... that would be against the norm, and perclude many OS's from being compatible.....

Yep, I found it very odd too, but the instructions say make it a FAT16 or FAT32, and it sure did not work for me on 3 different computers as a NTFS. On my main PC, using XP home, the found new hardware wizard popped up, which it should not do with XP, should not need any special drivers with XP. It would not load any drivers from the supplied disc either.
It would not assign a drive letter, and was not visible at all in My Computer. And, my PC would not boot with it connected, it would freeze in the bios splash screen. As soon as I formatted it as a FAT32, bingo, works as it should. Has to be something to do with the chip inside the case.

Just got mine yesterday too! Sure enough, it came in my self-addressed stamped envelope with my own return address and rebate registration number. Thought I would never see it again...yet here it is with a 29USD check!
