We have the Crown Vic Police Intercepters here in FL. I see several cops pulling people over in Cadillacs and Ford Explorers not sure what they did to get a cadillac but YMMV in the police force I guess. Our Highway patrol guys have suvs and old camaros. We also have those new Mercury Marauders for the ricer kiddies with nitrous. I imagine them switching over to japanese cars soon. Like a Honda Accord Police Cruiser with a DOHC V6 supercharged. What do you have locally?

So what, the police dept is gonna buy a bunch of new 240HP V6 Accords and drop an aftermarket SC kit onto it? Do you know what they design police vehicles for? They don't design them for outright HP or performance, but for reliability. Police-certified vehicles like the Crown Vic and numerous others have to survive hours & hours of high speed chases, sharp turns, off road conditions, and god knows what else. I've read how at the annual testing of potential police platforms they've melted rotors and snapped axles with the tests they do on some cars. A supercharged V6 Accord is stupid, and I doubt Honda plans on selling them as police vehicles.

Cops around here drive V6 late model Impala's or Crown Vics mainly. There's a few late model Camaro interceptors, the odd SUV. IMO that's all they need. The Crown Vic can keep up in the high speed chases and the Camaro discourages ricer boys/etc from running. When the current force ages, some Chargers might be in order to replace the Crown Vics IMO

Most drive Crown Vic's. I've also seen some Jeep Cherokee's and Chevy Surbaban's

They drive crown vics here but they should drive Magnums in the future. It is a newer platform and RWD + v8.

Put down the metal bat. I was simply speculating, no one else has answered the latter question yet. Just saying I could see them switching their cop cars soon since the crown vic has been used for quite some time. I have no credibility on the matter so chill.

Crown Vics and Impalas.

I don't see an import taking over - police cruisers need to be big and heavy to bully perps off the road - the crown vic makes a great cop car.

I'd like to see some chargers come in, too. That would be pretty sweet.

Crown vics, dodge stratuses(sp?), impalas, and I saw some new one in town. Kinda looked like a Chevy Malibu but it had a huge dual exhaust system in the back. All '05 plus models.

City police in Crown Vics, Sheriffs have a mix of SHOs and Luminas, Oregon State Police are now replacing Crown Vics with Chargers. A few years back the State replaced the Jeep Cherokees (regular size not Grand) with Ford Explorers for mountain patrol. Ever see a 6' 4" 200lbs trooper try to squeeze in and out of a small boxy Jeep Cherokee? 1)Open door, 2)reach around steering wheel and insert key to start engine, 3)get in. I felt bad for the guy and was glad to see that they got the bigger Fords.

My son's friends grandmother bought a police interceptor Camaro at auction and picks him up from school in it. It is black with white doors and roof and the outline of the POLICE decal is still visable on the rear fenders. Cops in Oregon have "E" plates that start with an E followed by 7 smaller numbers. The grandma has a "D" plate for disability parking an it looks like a real cop car from 100 feet away! Burns oil and smokes like a SOB at start up though.

Everything. Crown Vics, Yucons, Suburbans, F-150s, Impalas, Toyota Corollas.

There was a big controvery two or so years ago with their newest addition to the police force, a BMW 3-Series convertable.
Bastards.

The cops in my town use Impalas and Tahoes all over black with badging(or Suburbans maybe, they don't look that big) the Tahoes have thermal viewer camera's on them.

Crown Vics
Vics are still the best cop cars although dodge will start getting some of that action. Cops don't need cars that are super fast. They need something fairly large, cheap, reliable, and easy to maintain and thats a crown vic.
