No, we live in a fucked up society because there are idiots who think criminals running from facing the consequences of being punk-ass thugs should not be held responsible for injuries they incur during the chase THEY CAUSE.

If you're a criminal and you get your ass run over resisting arrest, GOOD! And if you die, good riddance! My sympathy is reserved for the victims of crimes, not the perpetrators of crimes.

Oh come on really? This cop was out of control driving his car. If you didnt notice the other cop stopped and was on foot as this idiot sped through at high speed and ran the perp over. If the per didnt fall down I bet this guy wouldnt have slammed on his brakes in time to not run through the house in front of him. Ridiculous action by this cop that put people in danger.

All and well until you get into the grey area of defining a criminal.

If eating steak is banned (think of the children/planet/some other emotional cause used as political force) and you do it, you're a criminal, oh noes!

The only crime in my eyes is a person transgressing anothers life, liberty, or property against their will. Any laws that don't specifically protect those things serves no other purpose but to advance totalitarian ideas and is therefore invalid and irrelevant.

And I certainly don't believe in crimes commited against one self (willful participation) or "victimless crimes".

Criminal not found and I don't blame him for running. I would have done the same if I were him.

WHY?

In what way would running help your situation? It only makes things worse (MUCH worse) and risks the safety of innocent people around you.

He probably had something much more serious to hide. I bet he tossed something while he was running.

Or his experience with the law has him running. 20 arrests over so many years. Chances are a lot of them were on bullshit drug related charges.

Very simple case. Criminal runs from the cops, ends up getting run over. The cop didn't intentionally run him over, it just happened during the case that the criminal caused. Problem not found, good riddance, +1 for society.

Suspects bails from car and runs into a yard, looks like lead car stops probably also to get out, follow car drives off road, aims at suspect, and doesn't stop vehicle until suspect is located in the proximity of the mufler. There's a reason cops don't try to shoot someone in the leg when they are running, and this idiot is an example of how you don't do things.

Are you people saying it wasn't intentional really watching the same video I am? He's accelerating a car chasing a guy on foot at around 20' away. What's the obvious result in that situation? Car hits guy. He wasn't simply going at his normal rate, which still could have resulted in him hitting the guy. The engine was audibly revving up.

I'm not saying it was intentional, but it's within the realm of possibility and at the very least gross negligence. I can't believe there are so many people simply dismissing the possibility.

If you run from the cops, you're 1. an idiot, and 2. a criminal. Who cares if he got run over and died? Good riddance, nothing of value was lost and society improved because scum like him is removed from the gene pool.

This news made my day. Good work officers.

^^this

Nostateofmind...seriously if you think about it and what the laws are then yes he deserved what he got and only did it to himself.

Like what has been said before you don't run from a cop, that is an automatic oh shit I am guilty of something look. I know it's probably not the case every time but, it is usually a criminal and/or a low life that get themselves into these situations over and over again.

Good. If you run from the cops, they should be able to shoot you in the back without repercussions.
In MOST jurisdictions, running from the cops, (evading arrest, fleeing, etc.) is a felony charge by itself.

i like how the family released the video to get some public outrage points, except it's probably not going to happen here. They already got $550,000. The officer was fired and will never be an officer again.

Win Win.

this is why departments don't allow officers to chase people unless you can shoot them. that way when you run them over by accident it's no big deal
