Cop pulls over a motorcyclist. When the biker stops, the cop bumps the motorcycle with his car, knocking the bike and biker over onto the ground.

When the biker gets up, the cop is out with gun pointed at him. He then kicks him in the chest.

Of course, the cop gets off with no punishment, but the taxpayers are out another $180,000 for yet another police abuse case.

The cop claims he couldn't help it. And of course he admitted he didn't realize the police car had dashcam video. Oops!

Edwards acknowledged in his testimony that Wilkens had begun to comply with his commands when he landed the kick, but said he was unable to stop the kick because he “already had the muscles fired” in his right leg.

Interestingly enough, this cop (Edwards) was involved in another case, where another cop reported him for allegedly conducting an illegal search.

The result? For Edwards nothing (of course). For the cop that reported him? He was targeted by fellow cops and slapped with 14 false complaints against him.

https://casetext.com/case/boyd-v-or-state-police-lieutenant-robert-edwards

On that same day, defendant Lanz informed the president of the Oregon State Police Officers Association that Lanz intended to investigate Boyd for every minor infraction or perceived infraction because of Boyd's conduct in reporting Edwards. The defendants subsequently initiated several internal investigations targeting Boyd with no less than fourteen false allegations.

Man, I'm glad cops don't protect other cops when they commit crimes, and they all stand up and report these sorts of things without getting punished.

Oh wait.....who are we kidding. This is SOP among cops...thin blue line, anyone who reports anyone is ostracized and investigated while the real cops that commit crimes are protected.

#fewbadapples indeed.....more like #lotsofbadpolicedepartments

SO I am little confused...did the unmarked car he was chasing him while he was speeding and crossing double yellow lines for over 3 minutes not have lights and sirens?

I am surprised, that falling off the bike did that amount of damage, he looked to jump up right away and pushed off with his left arm.

That kick didn't look like he even connected...regardless that cop is an idiot for even doing such a move...

Hope the guy on the bike got some level of a ticket for driving so recklessly.

is disappointed with the (trial) outcome and feels the actions of our troopers clearly did not violate established procedures or tactics. In situations like these, officers have milliseconds to make what may be life-or-death decisions and those officers should be shielded from the liability of civil damages.”
Let me translate that for you,

We are trained to be giant pussies that fear for our lives every second of the day, which is why every situation has to be handled with extreme force. The only tool we have is a hammer, so you are all fucking nails! We are sorry we have to pay this settlement, but not so much for the victims of our brutalization, and we did not learn anything from this!

I guess the taxpayers enjoy having their money wasted, or they'd be doing something about it.

Yah, it's clearly cheaper to pay out these million dollar settlements, than to hire, pay, and train people with an IQ above 80.

Actually it probably IS cheaper to pay out these settlements than to hire smarter cops who might question or even resist some of the revenue generation they participate in. I bet the average level intelligence cops perform the best at generating revenue out of any group.

The key piece of evidence in Wilkens’ case was a recording of the incident captured by an in-car video system in Edwards’ unmarked police vehicle. According to trial testimony, Edwards did not know the unmarked Chevrolet Camaro he was driving at the time was equipped with the video system.

oops.

lol stupid cop.

He deserved a ticket and perhaps a license suspension for riding like an asshole. I've never heard of the law that says the penalty for riding like an asshole is getting rammed by a cop car, broken bones, and kicked in the chest with a gun drawn.

A curb stomp, also called a "California smile", "Chicago kiss" or making someone bite the curb is a form of assault in which a victim's mouth is forcefully placed on a curb and then stomped from behind, causing severe injuries and sometimes death.

I thought it was a euphemism for getting your ass kicked.

So the bike rider had no idea he was being chased by a cop?

no

Wilkens said his tight-fitting motorcycle helmet impaired his ability to hear at the time, and that he did not see the Camaro’s flashing blue-and-red lights — which are embedded in the car’s grille — through a small, rear-view mirror. He testified that when he pulled over for Edwards, he expected to receive a “deserved” speeding ticket.
but the officers lies would have exonerated him anyway.

Edwards also said he accidentally “bumped” the back end of Wilkens’ motorcycle as a result of possible “brake fade” — a term used to describe the loss of braking power because of overheating. But Regan reminded jurors in a closing argumentthat a brake expert testified at trial that brake fade rarely occurs in modern brake systems.

Hope the pig gets in a serious car accident someday and dies screaming like he deserves.

For future reference, please try to express your displeasure in less ugly and graphic terms.

This officer was promoted to Captain and now works at OSP headquarters in Bend. Guess he did something right.

How do you know this? He said so?

I think cop's actions were perfectly justifiable if there was reasonable reason to believe he was evading a pullover.

what? no.

he wasn't evading pullover. in fact he was hit because he pulled over. if he was evading it would have ended different.

not that it matters. that was not a justified kick.

The cop said so himself. He said the guy complied with all of his instructions. That he ran over the bike due to "brake fade" and that he kicked the biker because "his leg muscles had already fired" by the time he realized he was complying.
