It looked to me like the worst of the clubbing started well after the protesters stopped moving.Originally posted by: js1973
I'm guessing the pace of the protesters spooked the cops.

NY times article, on another event that transpired. Looks like the protesters weren't exactly peaceful.

That was a pretty heavily edited video and as such is probably why no news organization would air it. I do not see these protestors as innocent peace-loving Budhists out for a stroll. They were in a public street obstructing traffic. In the beginning, it appears that two officers were trying to keep them on the sidewalk. Instead, several ran out in front of moving traffic creating a danger to themselves and others.
What happened between the edits is unknown so to make an assertion that is is the cops fault is invalid. If an unedited version of the tape was available that showed no provocation on the part of the protesters, I may change my opinion.
Otherwise, the police seemed to act within normal bounds I would expect in a free and democratic society. The exception being the "kill you" threat which was uncalled for.
Overall, I think this was a designed attempt to create publicity. Not a peaceful, monk led protest of injustice.

I agree with you completely, however this is AT P&N where cops/soldiers/anyone in authority is part of a black helicopter conspiracy to promote world domination by a group of chain smoking white men in bad suits...
Good luck with the kooks.. I sense the little anarchist/socialist piranhas in all their caffeinated cop hating fury are punching keys furiously in response to your "against the grain" perspective around here.

By your comments you just proved yuppiejr 's points. If these protestors folowed the law,, they would not have had any trouble. The fact you may disagree with a law does not give you the right to violate it. Work to change it. That is how democracy works. Your method reminds me of a very distasteful period in history 70 years ago.

Please point to the scene in the video or a written response from a police officer showing how the law was violated by the protesters. In particular, please show me the instance in which the law was broken to such an extent as to warrant a beating by law enforcers. Put up or STFU.
