I have a cd that I burned some of my files onto as a backup five years ago. I want to copy all of the files off of it onto my hard drive.
The problem is that when I select all of the files and folders in Windows Vista and drag them to a folder on my hard drive the file copying dialogue box locks up and explorer crashes. Before this happens dialogue boxes repeatedly come up saying that specific files cannot be copied;I just choose the 'skip all' checkbox. I think that some of the files on the CD are somehow damaged and cannot be copied, but I want to copy all of the ones that still work.
I tried selecting all of the files and dragging-and-dropping them twice and Windows crashed both times, forcing me to restart the computer each time. How should I copy the files off this CD? Is there another program that I could use that would be more tolerant of errors? Do you have any general suggestions about this issue?
Thank you.
