Copying via esata port on PC

I've got an eSATA card I bought once for my computer. I also have an external HDD with an eSATA port on the enclosure. I once managed to connect the two and it was fantastic how fast the data transfers were. Now, no matter what I do I can't get Windows to recognise ANYthing I plug into that eSATA port on my desktop.
What could be wrong and what could I try to remedy this?

Perhaps try finding the manufacturer's website for your eSATA card, and see if they have an updated driver. Then, go into device manager, and do properties on the card, and go to the driver tab and upgrade the driver, then browse to the new driver and install it.

If you can't find the manufacturer's website, you can use the device manager to uninstall the existing driver for the card, and instruct windows to delete the files when you uninstall. Then reboot the computer and see if it can auto-install fresh drivers.

What eSata card is it?
Does the card show up in Device Manager?
Try putting the card in another slot

Good idea. The card's manufacturer I was actually able to find, it's made by VIA. But they state very clearly that Windows default drivers are the only thing you need and that the drivers THEY offer are only good for the RAID functions. I'll try the deleting and allowing Windows to reinstall thing.
