That's a pretty good deal. I'm with Comcast Blast internet only and pay $82 a month for 150 down and they throttle the hell out of youtube (and anything streaming) so I wonder if the 150 is even worth it other than a solid connection for work. Was thinking of dropping another 5/month on a VPN to see if it ameliorates my throttling issues.
Of course my wife had to have Dish which is another 40/month but I have no control over that... she needs her ethnic channels which the internet can't replace (according to her).
Yeah, it's pretty nuts. Don't get me wrong--I still hate Comcast, but no one has beat that deal. ~4 years ago, I was about to cancel because I was paying $50/month for 5/1 only. That's it. This was in EastBay area in CA, and no one else was around. AT&T eventually moved in, unknown to me, and I got a random call from Comcast for this offer: +$10 month and we up to 25mbps and FREE HBO, basic cable (basic cable, to them, means free OTA TV, but whatever). I was like...uh, sure? I would have been fine with just better internet.
They let me bring that out to where I am now, in MD. Only, I have clocked the speed up to 80mbps, but never below 50. The X1 box is now the default freebie, so I can get free HD just from plugging in an HDMI cable. The "basic cable" out here also seems to include a very random sampling of actual cable channels, as I mentioned above (but no sports channels, which includes TBS, WGN and the like).
The throttling is terrible with Netflix and especially Amazon. Youtube isn't that great either. You should probably call and tell them you are thinking of switching to Verizon. I really wanted Verizon because of the no throttling and no cap, but what they promised for the same price: HD and some real basic cable, wasn't actually true.
