cordless phones

so i'm moving in to a new apartment and decided i want a new cordless phone. What are some good models/brands to look into and what should I avoid.
Which phones will have problems around my wireless G router and microwave.

any info you can give or even to just say you like your phone would be great. thanks

specifics, multiple handsets and an answering machine would be nice but not a deal-breaker

panasonic 5.8ghzs... so if you ever bring up a 2.4ghz wireless it wont step over each other..

they shouldnt, if they do, I would just change the channel on the cordless phone then. I thought 802.11g ran at 2.4ghz? I could be wrong though.

wireless g is 2.4ghz...shouldn't be a problem.

i personally use everything wired, and dont own a microwave...

i figure using a cell phone is dangerous enough alone.

Even wireless N is on 2.4.. so far..

My friend used to have 2.4 wifi and panasonics.. the chances of interferance is low but still there are some... ie if the phone rings.. you can see packet drop.. not a lot but annoying if you're gaming..

I am on the 2nd day of ownership of a Uniden CLX 485 Digital Answering System and very happy with the purchase. I bought a new one with the UPC neatly removed and paid $71.99 before shipping and handling on Amazon.com. The UPC missing was not a big deal for me since the rebate offers on this model have expired. I did a fair amount of research and used the Oct 05 edition of Consumer Reports in part of my research. This Uniden model did not make their review, but a closely related model did rank #3. A VTech and an at&t model faired better, but you should know these 5.8 GHz models also used the 2.4 GHz band. Knowing the 2.4 GHz band is the one most likely to interfere with my wireless network, I avoided these models. The Telephone Answering Machine I replaced was a Panasonic 900 MHz model. You can add nine additional handsets to this Uniden model. Also, up to five additional ringtones can be added to the handsets, but not the base. The manual can be read online for all the details. Again, only on my second day of use, but it looks like a great purchase so far.

I've got two different Panasonic 5.8 GHz phones and I've never experienced any problems with my wireless network. I also did a search on security and the Panasonic ones rated pretty high.

Also look for one that is digital spread spectrum. Otherwise people will be able to pick up your call and listen in.
