Cordless upright vacuums any good?

my my old el-cheapo vacuum motor died. (it was rated 2 amps or something low like that.)

i have bare floors and carpet. i vacuum once a week.

Cordless upright vacuums any good?

..I have a Eureka "the Boss" and it's ok for small clean up's. And the niCad battery is easy to replace.

vacs use too much power to be cordless and decent without a humongous expensive battery
needless to say a cheap cordless vac is useless.
you'd need one made by tesla to be worth bothering with heh.

Imagine a dust buster. Now put an extension on it that widens the area it sweeps. You'll be able to pick up lint, and possibly fly wings, but not much else. They're really not worth it.

but for just double the price, i can get the Consumer Reports bang for the buck vaccum:

bought it. came w/bonus battery pack

but the battery packs are NiCads. Any easy way to replace the individual batteries w/NiMh?

I just stuck with the stock batteries as it has performed well for the rooms I use it in and haven't run into the memory effect yet as I tend to use the vac until it starts to not work too well and pop in the second battery and run it down then charge both batteries up. Not exactly sure what size the nicd cells are in the battery packs, my guess would be that they are probably sub-c's (or at least similar to that in size).
