I just built a system today with the following-

core 2 duo e6300
intel dg965wh motherboard
2x512mb pny RAM ddr2 533
samsung 160gb hdd
samsung dvd writer
cooler master extreme power 600w psu
cooler master centurion case

so anyway i had some trouble getting it going, the cpu fan would start for a fraction of a second, and that was all. I had to jump a connector on the board(case open pins) to get it to start up, but once i did that all was well. windows installed fine, and i shut it down. came back just now, same problem, cpu and psu fan just barely spin, then nothing happens. i stripped it down to 1 stick RAM, unplugged dvd, hdd, etc, still same problem. kind of acts like the board is shoted out, but i checked underneath for screw, coins, bullets etc, nothing there. the psu worked fine in another system.

still, i think it is either the psu or motherboard, leaning towards board. this psu was used temporarily in another system without issues. any ideas?

CPU fan header on the Correct power header on the MOBO ?

Try Reseting The CMOS... and assure that the jumper is in the Correct position to allow operation rather than in the reset position.

i know, not my first chice on the PSU, i bought it as a temporary replacement for another system, it was on special at compusa. i just thought i would put it to use again, obviously this system doesn't need that much power.

CMOS jumper was set on the correct pins, reset it to see if that helps. also going to reseat the cpu.

try with mobo sitting on phonebook outside of case
double check closely your case wires are on the correct pins

ok, thanks for the ideas so far, tried CMOS reset and BIOS flash, tested outside the case, still having the same problem. going to try a different PSU next. intel tech support didn't have any ideas either.

I think we have a first here people.

A VIDEO of a computer problem!!!!!

If there was a bit more light, we could see if you plugged in the CPU 12V molex and vidcard molex
This is a new board/chipset, I would look at manual to see about what has to be plugged in and where
You didnt mention vidcard
Clearly you are not exhibiting adequate voltage.
use 1 stick ram, you could try failsafe defaults in bios, then up DDR2 voltage .2V, manually set multi and FSB

EVGA is a good company, so I would assume mobo was not DOA?
Then theres always accidentally hitting the mobo with screwdriver

cpu is plugged in, thats the yellow and black cable you see in the video. anyway, turns out it was the psu. i tested it with my silvertsone st65 and it starts fine every time. this is an intel motherboard not evga, it has onboard video. everything was plugged in properly, and i used this psu as a temp replacement in another system without problems, but apparently it doesn't work with this board. what was odd is that it would sometimes start fine, other times not. off to order a decent psu, probably a seasonic s12 380w.

I had some of the same issues, and I think it was because of the 965 chipset, I rma'd 2 (they were intel boards) before I switched to another chipset. I went back to the 945, and it worked fine for my needs (for a media center pc).

I have the e6300 with the dg964wh as well and im having the same problem. When it boots up, everything is fine. the problem is trying to get it to boot up consistantly. All it ever wanna do is spin fans dor a lil over and over. I check my psu and it seems to be good as well.

Same motherboard (Intel DG965WH), same EXACT problem. Only difference is I've never been able to get mine to come up, fans just spin, stop, spin, stop, spin, stop. My powersupply is an Antec NeoHE 430.

I have the same board and it was causing problems for me as well. Just make sure the HSF is securely attached to the CPU.

simply, reattaching the HSF fixed it for me. Also make sure you put your RAM in from left to right, othewise you won't be able to update your BIOS.
