Tomorrow we are going to have the ultimate ram contest though.
Team Xtreem 3-3-3-8 PC2-6400, Corsair Dominator 6400C3D, OCZ Titanium PC2-1000.
What I would consider to be the best of the best at the current time. Graphs, benchmarks, to follow.

Ok... This is the best thread in the forum right now. Big thanks to Yoxxy! Do you have timings at 1.8v PC2-6400 for these sticks? Are there JDEC compliance issues with these chips? Is this something I should worry about? I am going to buy my Vista Ultimate system this week and am looking at the S3 from Gigabyte or a good buy like that. So is it the E6300 with slightly more expensive ram or the E6400 with slightly cheaper ram? I have an opinion but I want to see what the posters think...

This won't be a gaming rig. This is my media PC. I will be using Vista's Media Center and not gaming. I have beta tested it for some time and it has been just fine. I am going to use it primarily as an HD-HTPC. - And which budget/midrange memory works best with the S3? I want to boot, install the OS, and OC with the same memory. Is that too much to ask? I would like to see if this list with default voltages along side the upped/non JDEC OC voltage. Also, if people use this memory, they could post with which MBD they use and what results they get for that combo.

Hey,
Thanks for the great info.
I was wondering about the following. On 680i mobos, did non sli-ready RAM that required high voltages (in specific Crucial Ballistix DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) (5-5-5-15) (D9GMH) (2.2v) ($284.99)<---Great Deal ) get past post with stock voltages, or did you need to plop in an old piece of ram in order to up the voltages manually?
I have this ram, and have no old ram, and was gonna go for the evga 680i.
Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Yoxxy - find some more info on the super talents. i'm pretty sure they are d9gmh not d9gkx... if D9GKX were $261, they'd be sold out by now!
also the price has changed on them to $259.99 after rebate

Get a P5B-E and that GSkill set. It will do you well to get E6400, P5B-E and G.Skill. Will do 3.2 Ghz (400*8) with ease.

Wow, great guide.
I've got corsair value select pc2-4200 with micron d9 chips, small ones, not the fattys. Could I oc these to any extent?
