Core 2 Duo E6400 Cooler?

I am going to wait a few weeks, but will ultimately be building a Conroe machine. I believe that I am going to go with the E6400, and I am going to overclock the chip.

My question is, what is the best CPU cooler to go with to cool the overclocked cpu (I don't want to use liquid cooling)?

Thanks!

while the scythe ninja is GOOD, you cannot discount coolers like the Tuniq, and Thermal Take Big Typhoon...

All I can say is the Scythe Ninja is BIG. It works great with a quiet fan though, thats it's strong suit. The difference from idle to full load temps (based on two instances of small FFT's of prime95) is about 12-14C. That is on my 3800+ X2 overclocked to 2450 at 1.375vcore.

My only complaint is hooking up wires for fans and such next to the back as it creates a bit of a tight fit.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. I just want a cooler with a good performance/price ratio that would adequately allow overclocking. "Best bang for the buck".

Keep them suggestions coming as I'll do some research on my own.

Tuniq T-120 Tower offers the best LGA775 cooling performance, but at the cost of 'noise pollution'.

If you don't mind noise, by all means spring for the T-120... but if noise is a concern either get a Big Typhoon or a Scythe Ninja.

The Big Typhoon cools a little bit better than the Scythe Ninja, and at 15dB, chances are you aren't going to be able to hear the 120mm fan on it anyways.

I want a Tuniq Tower, but have not been able to find one in stock anywhere. Anyone know of someplace that has them in stock?

The "best" is the new Scythe Infinity. Initial data shows it even spanking the TT.
