There was one person who finished it in 2 min on his 2.4ghz northwood, so I figure if my laptop does it in 5 min I would be pretty happy. But no lord! It just kept going! :Q

this also answers my question here, cause if a dual core opteron @ 2750 could do it in 25 seconds then mine should have taken about 35 but this clearly shows that PS takes advantage of the second core

The only thing this "proves" is that every MB/Disk/windows installation is different. Are you really just comparing the CPU, or the chipset and subsystems as well? The same cpu may perform 20% differently on different motherboards. So the most anyone can get out of this is that the new intel stuff is pretty fast.

you're right, so next week when I get my x2 I'll overclock it to exactly what my venice is at (everything else will be exactly the same) and I'll post my results

both tests with norton disabled, but several smaller startup apps running.

sitting with an overcloced x6800 on a 5k rig, doubt that is accurate.

Hi noushy,

Those are some nice results. It shows that broly8877 must have made a typo or done something incorrectly when running the test on his system.

On my CS2 system, with the Pentium D @ 3 GHz, it runs in 48 seconds. I went to tried it out with only one of my cores active for Photoshop (by assigning it only one cpu in the Task Manager process affinity screen) and ran the test again. Wound up getting a score of 1:36 (96 seconds).

One other thing I'd like to see is those who have the Core2Duo E6300 chips or cpu's clocked at 1.86 GHz, to run tests on them. I am trying to persuade a friend that the E6300 is quite a bit better than his Pentium D. One score from a E6300 thus far is nice, and if anyone else can test that out, I'd appreciate it.

Metrorider, I have an E6400 sitting on my desk. I just did not have another mobo that would work with it until today (p5n32 sli se). I will try to set it up today and get some numbers out. This is a chip for my little brother and i thought my P5WDG2 would work but stupid asus made a revision update for the conroe (mine is not the one, hey, anyone really need a nice 975x board that does not work with conroe?). Anyways will work on it tonight late, so I should have some results by the end of the week.
