What does that mean? You need to OC!

This is an approximation "benchmark" at best since it's up to the user to time it.

Anyway, with CS2 I get ~ 22 seconds with an E6600 at 3.5GHz, 4GB RAM (4-4-4-12), 700MB/S SCSI RAID scratch disk but as mentioned earlier it has no bearing on a small file.

Super PI 1M time is 14 sec.

Yikes! With all these blistering times I'm embarrassed to share my lowly 100 seconds. And I thought I had a fairly strong system: time to upgrade, I can see that all too clearly, as I do a lot of Photoshop imaging (I'm an aviation photographer).

system:

p4 3.06 hyperthread
asus p4pe, extremely stable board
2 gig 3200 ddr memory
ide drives
Windows 2000, all latest updates
CS2

Any recommendations for a system overhaul that will optimize Photoshop CS2?

core 2 duo+mobo+DDR2 ram, even the cheapest C2D is great, and if you're into oc'ing you can take them really far...

Sounds like a great test... if you have Photoshop. Otherwise, I'm out in the dust but hey, Paint.NET works fine for my image processing needs - and it's free, too.

My system:
Athlon 64 X2 4400+ at stock (2.2Ghz)
4GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM
150GB Raptor OS/programs disk
36GB Raptor scratch disk (doesn't matter as stated already)
Windows XP x64 with Photoshop CS2

My "score": 37 seconds

I dont know why people keep speculating if it uses both cores. Open up the window task manager while you are doing the blur and you can obviously see that both is maxed out.

exaclty, ps has only been smp/smt aware for years....

24 seconds on CS2.

Funny thing is I pulled 53 sec. in last years thread using the same 2 sticks of DDR1 memory. Of course, that was on a Asus P4C800-E deluxe mobo and a P4 EE @ 3.91. The old P4 Extreme Edition  took more than twice as long with a 600 Mhz speed advantage!

MIne also at QX6700@3.2ghz (8x400) w/ only 1 stick (so single channel) 512mb at 1000ddr2 cas 5-5-5-17

I get 13.x sec.....I ran it twice and it definitely happens just after 13 but before 14.

Also I was running 4 instances of F@H in the background
