*Gasp*

LOL, SimCity 3000 is the most intense game I play....and the 6600gt plays it at the highest settings, with full AA turned on. SimCity has AA right??

Honestly, I have no use for the 9600gt in my other rig. Hell, to be honest, I have no use for a quad core either.

I got hooked on pc hardware in '99 after my first build, and have never looked back!! Sad, but I have boxes just sitting around, and I'm looking to build an itx rig for no reason!

I have the same problem with dirt bikes.

Looks like you sir need to BUY some new games.

You do have Steam, right?

Steam? You mean like steam heat??

I've played a few games on my buddies rig. I'm the guy that gets stuck in corners .

Have you tried using manual timings? 6-6-6-18-42 or even more relaxed than that?

Relax the ram to 6-6-6-18-42 as stated. All i did was add voltage (2.06V vs stock 2.0V) and viola, my ram no longer became an issue.

Had access to a beat-up Q8200 with C0 equivalent stepping but couldn't get it higher than 485MHz (3.4GHz) on IP35. This board had no problem running E8400 C0 at 525MHz (4.2GHz). Overclocking was very simple with one notch bump in VTT and MCH.

This new Q8200 R0 (E0 equivalent) would not POST with IP35 since there was no BIOS update. VID of 1.25 and pack date of March 09.

Borrowed the EP45-UDP with 18 BIOS. CPU reached 3.32GHz at defaul voltage. Had to slowly raise VTT and MCH north of 477MHz. Once 500MHz is reached, VTT and MCH went ballistic. The board ran into a wall at 511MHz.

At 510MHz (3.57MHz), VTT and MCH were raised to 1.42 and 1.48, respectively. All other settings at NORMAL. CPU prime95 load were pegged at 1.3 per CPUz (1.39 in BIOS). With a better board or an 8x multiplier, I have no doubt that this CPU will crack the 3.8GHz barrier with 1.36 in CPUz.

Dropped the multi to 6x to test RAM, but Memtest86 showed a strange memory speed. Not sure if it was working okay.

1M Super Pi run of 14.985. Peak core load at 80F ambient is 64C.

Yes this is pretty common on the IP35...it simply wasn't designed to handle quad-cores at those bus speeds. I can't even run my Q6600 at 400 MHz FSB on my IP35-Pro, but 65nm Core 2 Duos will easily run above that. My PWMs get up above 70C when I peg my Q6600 at 378x9=3400MHz.

Mine were M1 stepping. SL5BM I think.

(Note: Google seems to be broken right now. I used to do a seach for SL5BM, and got the Intel site's processor specs as one of the first links. Now I don't get that, in fact I only get 8 hits total on Google. Something is WAAAAY wrong.)

Heh, that something would be your spelling of the spec number. It's SLB5M, not SL5BM.

dang thats relaxed.... will it make a big performance decrease? or will i not feel it at all. i know winrar likes low timings.

IF its your ram, relax the timings. I'm at default 5-5-5-12 with said voltage.

This was a smokin deal, I got 3 of my friends in on it, all OC to 2.8GHz or higher, and they're all thrilled with the performance jump over their older Conroe chips.
