i like dual cores b/c they are highly clocked and take less power since i leave computers on all the time.

I agree what I said earlier was probably a bit out of hand but he wasn't being very specific either.
He just said "higher clocked" and "less power".

Last time I checked Micro Center increased the price on the Core i5 750.

wrong on both counts. This used to be true with the core2 architecture and before.
The whole point of the nehalem architecture is that you no longer have to sacrifice anything when you go quad core, quadcore is always better with dual core because individual cores can be shut down completely when not in use, so power consumption is not higher, and cores can be shut down in conjunction with ocing the other cores (turbo boost, but you can also manually shut down nehalem cores and manually oc the rest).

Intel prices kinda suck now altogether. All the models below 700 series aren't particular exciting. However it does make AMD prices much more attractive.
