Finally got my 9900K in from Amazon last week! I'm *really* tempted to build as I have every part except the GPU (can use integrated graphics for now)!
Some of the folks that did pre-orders were told that December was when there would be widespread availability. Maybe now people can actually buy the 9900k without having to jump through too many hoops or pay an overlarge premium?
Amazon and Newegg are showing stock (as are some others) though the prices are still inflated. $550-$570.
I just gained massive points by switching out my RAM with G.SKILL Trident Z RGB memory.Tweaked many settings this Thanksgiving weekend. Got my score much higher while retaining stability. CPU at 4.9GHz all cores (5.1GHz single core). It now beats my previous 6950X at 4.125GHz.

The RAM at 3866 is stable. I'm going to keep it there. I can do 4000 at 17-19-19, but 3866 with 16-18-18 is faster.
Decided to run some benchmarks. Ran good old FireStrike and compared it to the monster system I had just four years ago. The results are... well...

The Prescott of this decade?
Pescott ran hot, but the 9900K does at least have the performance to go with the heat, which Prescott didn't.I had a prescott. can you explain ? Not disagreeing, just dont get the context.
Got my 9900K a few days ago, was able to buy for $530! OC'd to 5GHz on all cores. This thing is way, way easier to keep cool than my non-delidded 8700K was. Great processor
I did the same. My temps are better at 5ghz on the 9900k than 4.7ghz on the 8700k.
ignore it, not a correct commentI had a prescott. can you explain ? Not disagreeing, just dont get the context.
