I think you and he are talking about two very different things when he says "they send you a bill"Simpler is just a buzzword meaning that they are going to cut something out (like individual exemption). With today's software, taxes are a piece of cake, even with a few former complicated items. On top of that, I've read that the tax bill may be in excess of 1,000 pages. That sounds far from simple to me.

Republican leadership knows this and doesn't want them to get educated so they'll wake up and see the obvious before them and even then education might not be enough if they attend a religion based school that reinforces that thinking.
