corrupt files

I am having a big problem, for some reason half the stuff I download and try to install some how gets corrupted. No it cant be coincidence, this has happend from downloading from ati and even file planet, I wont even mention usenet. What could possible be causing this, bad memory?

1. Restart the computer

2. Run check disk.

Right click on My Computer --> Manage -- > Disk Management (under "storage")--> Then right click on the HDD in use (likey C: ) --> Properties--> Tools Tab-> Check Disc.

Select Auto Correct Errors.

3.Goggle for "MemTest" and test your ram.

If that where to work would it fix my current so called corrupted files, or would I have to redownload them? The reason I ask if because I'm downloading a big 1GIG beta AGAIN, I would not download it since the corrupt one is still in the recycle bin... Thanks

Another question, my computer doesnt have a floppy drive. How do I go about burning memtest image on a CD? If I just burn those 2 files in the BOOT folder to a CD will it boot it, or do I need to create some kind of boot disk? Sorry for all the silly questions.

Some worm/virus/trojan infections corrupt zip files.

Other causes:
- overclocking
- bad memory
- drive controller failure
- drive failure
- power failure (brownouts / blackouts)

Ok I run the memtest for about 20min. it gave me Pass:1 Fail:322 (and counting). I am assuming my memory has gone bad? It's Corsair XMS 3200C2 512MB, is there anything I can do? I mean I overclocked my system in the past so that could be why it flanked out?

Ocing could be a reason but not necissarily either way if you are getting errors at stock speed the ram is dead and u are going to want to RMA. If its not at a stock speed right now slow it down and/or relax timmings.

It is at stock speed, so I guess there isnt anything I can do. What do you recommend I buy? Name and model please
