CORSAIR Builder Series CMPSU-500CX

$69.99
-$10 sale
-$20 rebate (exp.1/9)
-$5 coupon code EMCKJKC26 (exp.1/9, must be Newegg Newsletter subscriber)
FREE shipping

=$35

A couple caveats. The "Builder Series" are NOT as good quality as other Corsair PSUs. However, they are also not "crap" so they should work just fine and put out their rated power (at 30°C). The 500CX is not overrated like the 430CX (which is really a 380W).

If you want a top-of-the-line PSU they also have the Seasonic X750 modular cable and 80Plus Gold-rated PSU for $129.99 with promo code EMCKJKC27, ships free.

That's $15 less than for the X650 that I just ordered, d'oh.

Why don't you create a new Hot Deals thread about it? I don't think someone shopping for a $35 PSU would be in the market for a PSU costing almost 4x as much.

I probably should, I missed that you were creating separate threads for the hotter PSU deals (this, Antec 430).

Right. Tough call on whether to have an all-in-one thread or post individually. I usually post individually so that people searching for a product can find it easier. That, plus there's usually only a couple of really interesting deals (if that) per newsletter.

Would this be good for an I7-870 oc'd to 3. 9 and a GTX460 at 860 core?

It will probably work fine at stock speeds. Overclocked, IDK. I know that socket 1366 CPUs can draw a LOT of power when overclocked, and so can GTX 460. It might also depend on your case because if the PSU is at the bottom it will draw cooler air, versus PSU at the top drawing hotter air. PSU's power output and quality usually goes down a bit as temperatures go up. This PSU was "rated" 500W at 30°C, which is on the cool side.
