I am RMA'ing my Enermax Liberty 500W PSU because of a faint burning smell that showed up last week, and slightly decreased performance ever since. I don't want to risk losing everything even with such a faint burning smell. I plan on asking for a refund rather than an RMA'd unit and want to put the money towards the Corsair PSU listed above.

Newegg has nothing but good reviews for it (97 reviews, 98% at 5). Does anyone have experience with this PSU? Is it really as good as advertised?

Thanks.

I have the 620 watt Corsair PSU, and yes, they really are that good. You'll find nothing but good reviews for the most part, although I'm sure even they have some that die and get RMAed, as it's part of the manufacturing process as a whole. But get a Corsair PSU--you won't be disappointed.

Well worth the money. I am buying another one later this afternoon after I find the best pricing.

ZipZoomFly has it for 105 with free shipping. I think that's where I'll be ordering it from. 2.99 extra to bump it to 2 day shipping. Best deal in my opinion.

It gets my vote.

Just built a new system with the 520W, e6600 @ 3.2 and an older 7900GTX. No problems and quiet too!

Shame.... they had a $20 rebate on it until yesterday(?). Was $85 net (AR) with free shipping.

The Corsair PSU's are really good, I bought one for my friend a couple of months back, and it has worked perfectly. Keep in mind, if you buy one though, PC Power & Cooling PSU's are still better choices even though they're not modular and they're rally bulky.

Does the Corsair 620 work well in an Antec P180 where the PSU is low? I'm days away from purchasing a new build and want the Corsair, but I'm a bit fearful that a Corsair's cable won't have the reach.

hmmm i'm wondering the same thing. I have the Antec 900 and my OCZ Evostream 600 just doesn't have the reach on the ATX 4pin cable. I was thinking of going with the Corsair PSU but i hope the cable would reach. Are there such extension cables for such a purpose?

I bought the HX520 and it arrives tomorrow. I don't think I have ever been "stoked" about getting a new power supply before now.

I've always had good service out of enermax however everybody ships a bad unit every now and then. The corsair unit should serve your needs well. I personally run enermax in everything in the house but that's just my preference.

Get a Seasonic or a Corsair (which is made by Seasonic). Its a better product than the Enermax. Definetely more quiet. Not that Enermax is bad or anything but there is better.

are the cables for this long enough for a p180/182?

specs said support for 8x sata -- that means 2 cables with 4 power connectors each?

There was a post earlier not sure where, someone was aking about length of these cables.
Buy any who, if ya download the manual, it'll give ya more info:

? For HX620W: 2 x 800mm SATA connector
cable with three SATA connector heads.
? 1 x 650mm SATA connector cable with
two SATA connector heads.
? For HX520W: 2 x 650mm SATA connector
cable with two SATA connector heads

800mm is roughly 31.5 inches
650mm is roughly 25 inches.

So, if length of cables is of concern, you might want to check out the HX620 instead.

I've had the HX520 since Christmas. It's very nice.

I only wish it had 4x PCIe connectors, since going SLI would mean having to replace my Corsair.

I built a new PC last monday with the 520HX PSU, P182B case & Asus P5N-E mobo and I can report that all the leads reached the mobo sockets just fine and all the power connectors reach HD's etc with room to spare (I have 6 hd's installed & a sata dvd burner in the top 5 1/4 slot).

The PSU is inaudibile even under load with all the case fans set to low.

Hope this helps.

thanks guys...

my setup will be a raid0 and a raid5 with 2 hd's up top and 4 hd's filling the bottom respectively -- all sata. seems that won't work with this psu, without a splitter for the bottom 4. that sucks

how about the m12? seasonic.com showed 8x sata's but didn't find cable details ~

That CMPSU-520HX supplies very steady juice to my overclocked AMD 939 4800. Once I watched for 1 minute - the 12v rail just stayed at 11.96.
Quietness is a bonus.

cool something. that would work for a 900 or a stacker, not quite on a p180. it costs as much as another case!
