No it won't matter much at all. While there have been a few articles about system memory bandwidth having a tangible effect on gaming (namely
this one) such effects are typically described (and rightfully so) as edge cases.
While there is a place for high speed memory, gaming isn't it (neither is general usage). You'd be fine with something like the kit I have, which is a 4x4GB set of Vengeance Pro rated at 1866 MHz. Honestly, you'd be fine with anything 1600 MHz or faster.
The thing to keep in mind when purchasing memory is buy an appropriately sized kit. E.G. if you need 16GB get a 4x4GB or a 2x8GB kit, not two 2x4GB or two 8GB sticks. You're asking for trouble when doing this, especially with higher speed memory. Also, buy memory from solid brands. If you get a bad stick, you want a company behind it that will actually help you with the problem. I remember reading something from Puget systems that claimed G.Skill always had the lowest failure rates for them, but I'm not 100% on that. You should have good luck with Corsair, G.Skill, Kingston, Crucial etc.
