I just order the CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650 V2 last night after the fan died in my cheap 550 watt psu. I was about to get the CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-650TX, but I found the V2 for the same price at newegg $74.99 after rebate. Was it better to get the V2? I almost ordered the OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W Modular as it was a little cheaper and had alot of reviews at newegg, plus the modular part sounded cool.

I know it will power my system that is in my sig, but I will be upgrading in the next few months to Bulldozer or Sandy. My GPU will be around for another year unless I find a killer deal on one. It maybe more than I need, but it seemed like a good price and you never know what the future might hold and with a 5yr warranty I plan to keep it for awhile.

Both are very solid but the V2 is a newer design and will serve you well on that upgrade to SB or Bulldozer.

The answer is yes. The V2 is not a newer design...it's a different manufacturer. The 650TX is a CWT, while the V2 you just bought is a Seasonic.

All of the V2s are a newer design based on a new platform from Seasonic.
Today, Corsair's updating the fully wired TX series of units to version 2, using a brand new platform sourced from Seasonic. You will recall that the older TX850 used the venerable Channel Well Technology PSH platform to provide power, and then later on the PSH II for a brief spell while these new units were being readied for prime time. The new Seasonic platform promises us 80 Plus Bronze efficiency and enthusiast grade performance. It will be interesting to see how this platform differs with the older one. As is always the case with a Corsair unit, my expectations are high already. We'll see how it does soon enough.

I have been really happy with the VX450 that I have been using. With C2Q over-clocked and a single axial-fan-equipped 5770, Prime95 + Furmark draws ~300 watts. In non-gaming use I draw 150 watts and the power supply is quiet. I consider <22 db @ 1m to be quiet, and the 5770 is the loudest part of the system.

Looking at Corsair's specifications shows the VX450 @ 21 decibels, the TX650 @ 25 decibels, and the CX430 is only called "ultra-quiet". I am looking for another power supply, but I can't find the VX450, and nothing else by Corsair claims to be as quiet.

Is the TX650 V2 as quiet as the VX450 in low-load situations?

Is the CX430 V2 "builder" series the best choice for low-load and low-draw systems? (Worried about cheap sleeve bearings in fan, CWT unit humm.)

I don't have any info on any of the V2 PSUs that is not on our website. If you need more detailed info, please ask RAM GUY at our forum.
