Corsair HX620W and Antec P182 Compatibility?

Hi everyone!

This is my first post in this forum so please be nice to me

I have bought the Antec P182 SE Case and i'm thinking of buying the Corsair HX620W PSU.

Before i buy this PSU i need your advice regarding the compatibility of this PSU with the P182 case.

The P182 has it's power supply located in the lower chamber to isolate heat from the system, this is one of the main reasons for buying it.

However, i noticed that the 120mm fan is located on the bottom of the Corsair HX620W which sucks air from the inside of your case and directs it out the meshed back.

This means that there is very little space between the bottom of the case and the PSU.
Could this be a problem for cooling? to me the most optimal solution would be that the fan would be located on the back or front end of the PSU.

What is your take on this?

A: Does this configuration improve the airflow and cooling?
B: Does it reduce it?
C: Makes no difference?

Thanks in advance!

The P182 has a cage that the PSU sits on that allows for top/bottom fan PSU cooling. It'll be fine, probably won't make too much of a difference.

It probably won't make too much difference, but as PCTC2 said, you can mount the PSU upside-down in the P182 if it makes you feel more comfortable. That way the fan still draws air in from the system and exhausts through the back.

Welcome to the forums, Stargazer77!
I've got the Corsair HX520 in my P180B & it's fine. It sits about 1/2" off the bottom of the case for the air from the lower chamber fan to get to it.
You'll be fine.
Depending on the motherboard you use, however, you may need an 8-pin extension if you route the cables behind the motherboard tray.

Thanks guys for your insightful comments!

You have removed my only concern with Corsair HX620W

I was playing with the idea of drilling a few holes on the backside to facilitate the airflow but that would be such a shame on such a nice PSU :brokenheart:

I've been wondering about this as well. Can anyone give a rough estimate of the required lengths for 8pin and 24pin power connectors in the P182 with typical MB?

I've got the p182 and corsair 620. They work well together and the psu cables route behind mobo tray up to the top of the mobo just perfect.

I also own the P182 and the corsair 620, the cables work their way behind the mobo tray and fit nice and snug, the cables make it just perfectly in length, not an inch too long(lol). so no worries with it.

Since I only have a P180B, I have to route the 4 pin cable around the inside edge of my case to reach the connector in the upper left hand side of my mobo so an extension cable was needed for my HX620's stock 4 pin. For the P182 where you can take a more direct path to the connector behind the mobo tray, the length of the 4 pin cable should be just enough to reach the connectors on most mobos, though it may be snug.

I have both (My "P182" is actually a P180 modded to be exactly like a 182) and can tell you that they are a perfect match. Quiet and efficient.

There's approximately 3/4" of space underneath the PSU so it can draw in air. The PSU actually sits on a shelf that has the entire center cut out. It's a perfect design. Please don't mount your PS upside down; it was not designed for that. With it upside down, the fan is fighting convection; hot air rises but the fan will be trying suck it back inside.

I've had two different PS's inside the P182, both mount fine in the proper rightside-up position and work great.
