Strange, where are the C400 drives?

According to the rumor mill February. Most speculating latter half sometime. And its also speculated they'll go for about the same price as current C300 models or slightly more. No official word on pricing though so take it with a dose of salt.

What about the newest generation SSD hardrives coming out soon? Like the SF-2000 that anandtech got the specs for and wrote about? Or is he C400 based on that?

I'm basically waiting for the 3rd generation of SSD hardrives to come out then I plan to get a 128 gig one and throw my OS and other stuff on it.

Thoughts/opinions on which I should get and how long I should wait? I'm still an SSD newb.

Those numbers are for the enterprise/data systems drives. I'm guessing the prices will be higher than the balls on a giraffe and you'll have to wait till Q4 most likely.

There's too much Seagate BS in there to be reliable. We're seeing what happens when there's no competition in a market segment. When the C400 hits and Intel's new drives prices will go back down.

Wow, over $700 for the P3-256. Fuck them in a big way. That is out of control ridiculous. Some nice price gouging before the next batch of next-gen drives hits shortly.

That's insane. $175 for a 64GB drive that isn't even all that fast. Sequentials are 365/110. The C300 is 355/75 and it was on sale for $99 yesterday.

What benchmark should we be using?

CDM, AS SSD, winsat disk (from a command prompt in win 7), iometer.

AS SSD and winsat can produce varying results but their results typically depending on system load.

ATTO is fine for testing transfer but raw Windows performance hinges on iops/random access. This can be evidenced by a single SSD with 120/70 R/W speeds being much faster than a RAID0 array of 15K disks with 1GB/S R/W.

Going from mechanical and really just getting one for gaming but reliability would be nice. Seems like a good price, and I think SF controller isn't bad either.
