this has been on OP's website for sometime now, but has always been "call for availability." I ordered another "call for availability" Corsair ram from OP, and cancelled after 2 weeks of inaction. Probably too good to be true, but if you're not in a hurry, go ahead and order it.

Ignorant about RAM - I'm sitting here about to mail in the rebate for unopened Corsair 2xCM2X1024-6400 that I bought on impulse for a future C2S system for $260 after MIR.

Is it worth seeing if they can be returned for the deal above or similar? I'm wondering if this was the deal I thought it was at the time, and don't know the importance of 'C4' etc.

EPP = Enhanced Performance Profile. Tighter timings. Per Corsairs data sheet:

"The Twin2X1024-6400C4 comes with Enhanced Performance Profiles (EPP), the open standard for performance module SPD?s jointly developed by Corsair and NVIDIA. EPP SPD?s on Corsair modules allow users to automatically configure EPP enabled motherboards with aggressive memory performance settings, for maximum memory and system performance."

I called OP about 2 weeks to check on this, they said expected a shipment around 10-7 but they were all spoken for...... Then called my local Fryes they have 5 in stock but for 349 and would honor the online price.

Whoa. This is the price of this exact kit just before DDR2 RAM prices blew through the roof. This is extremely excellent RAM and the absolute best at this price, not even a rebate! This stuff can do 1066mhz or better at just 2.1v...

I can wait. My order status changed from 'In Process' to 'Back Ordered'. I'm slowly getting the pieces to move from my 939 X2 to go back to the dark side & try one of the Core 2 Duo's (maybe even the Quad's depending on prices in a month or 2). Until I get around to picking up the MB, Processor & another Power Supply I can wait for the memory to be delivered.

the last several weeks of reports at DRAMeXchange have me believing that DDR2 prices are now (thankfully!) on the downswing. And I've noticed DIMM prices starting to drop incrementally at many of the big resellers too. In fact, ZipZoomFly and Newegg have each just dropped this TWIN2X2048-6400C4 kit to around $280 shipped.

$259.63 shipped overnight (Overnight was only $3 more than ground). Guess that's an advantage of living on the East Coast where there aren't any Fry's (No Fry's = No Tax !!!).
