Prices going UP! OP updated!

argh. hopefully this is not a trend and it's just the retailers making sure that they offset the deals that people have been taking advantage of in the past 1-2 weeks.

I seriously doubt that. These retailers go thru stock like butter. The price increases are not artificial, they are based on current cost. To help us watch I've added monitoring of the DRAM spot market.

ZZF went up $2 this afternoon.

Any of you using this with the Asus A8N-E board? Is this the best stuff? Anything else recommended for < $100?

No one expects this to go back down?

BTW, isn't the "A GiG of RAM has never been cheaper!" subtitle no longer true?

LOL, that is a "generalized" term.

No, personally, I expect the prices to keep going up, especially as we get closer to fall. From what I've read, many mfg's claim to be selling at a loss. You can only "lose" money so long. This market has a long history of going from super cheap to insanely expensive and back....it's just crazy.

Prices have really stablized the past 3 days. Is this thread still useful? I'm getting burned out on updating it....especially if it's no longer of value.

A tip for anybody who wants 2 x 1gb in there system.

CENTON PC3200 cas2.5,3,3,8 1gb is $95.33 shipped at newegg, but here is the kicker.

i ordered 2 sticks and am running them at 233FSB cas2.5,3,3,11 in my A64 rig with 2.8V ddr completely memtest86 and any and all benchmarks completely stable.

have been for about 2 months.

i am considering getting 2 more 1gb sticks.

i also was able to run sandra and benchmark 3dmark05 at 250FSB cas3,4,4,11 but it fails memtest86 in a few minutes, it might be stable at 250FSB with more volts, but my motherboard only goes up to 2.8V ddr.

I ordered from Monarch and am extremely disappointed in them. They sent me 1 1gb stick instead of 2x512 so I asked to return it. They said that they don't take returns on ram. Just a heads up, said it's in their terms that they do not accept returns for and I quote "Systems, processors, memory, and monitors cannot be returned for store
credit or refund."

I have no idea why I can't return an unopened product but there you have it.

Thunderbirdaholic, if you have a copy of the original online invoice that stated you were buying the 2 piece kit, then call your credit card company and explain the situation.

Be polite but adamant and the CC company should back you up and get Monarch to allow you to return the item since they sent you the wrong memory.

Agree, but not the point (as i'm sure you realize ) I've only bought from monarch once and it went great, but hearing that they won't take your return is disturbing. Bottom line is that they didn't send you what you ordered. What if your MB doesn't support over 612MB per slot, not to mention you can't run dual channel with this one stick. I agree with Rachet, they did NOT send you what you ordered, should be an exchange at no cost to you, no question.

I have a 2x512 gb set that I am willing to trade for your 1 GB stick. Have you tested it yet? Any bsod's? I have mine running in my old box for about 3-4 weeks with no problem.
