So far these are my 2 maxed out configurations:

#1
FSB: 225
RAM: 1:1, 450 mhz 2.7v
CPU: 2475 mhz
HT: 4x

#2
FSB 230
RAM 5:6, 380 mhz 2.7v
CPU: 2530 mhz 1.5v
HT: 4x

Raising the FSB higher for any either of these configurations results in windows crashing upon startup.

Is there something I am missing or have I just maxed out my RAM?
Any suggestions on how to get my FSB up any higher on the 5:6?

If not, which one of these settings is the better one?

I have had my Corsair Value Select up at 235fsb with 3-3-2.5-12 timings. Best bang for your buck memory out there.

why are you ocing your rma? performance increase is minimal. just use a memory divider, decrease latencies and run it.

I asked which one of the two was a better setup. The only reason im considering using the 1:1 ratio setting is because I can only get an extra 5 (from 225 to 230) on the FSB by dividing the memory to a 5:6 setting.

I didnt know if a few extra mhz was worth dividing the memory.

I expected to get more than 230 with a 5:6 ratio, hence this thread.

Whoa I didn't even know the (tras I think it is?) went up to 12.

Akassasin, try bumping the voltage up to 2.85 and see if you can run it higher on 5:6. Otherwise, 1:1 is overrated so go for the extra megahertage.

damnit ive tried everything. Cant get the FSB above 230... this leaves my RAM at 383 mhz

maybe ill try a different bios version

edit: just tried lowering the ht to 3x with 5:6 and 335 fsb. Same thing, blue screen/restart.

tried already... I think Im going to return this value stuff get some performance memory.

Can someone confirm for me that the memory is the problem here?

I always thought blue screen resets were due to memory problems and I cant think of
anything else it would be, but I want to make sure before I send the stuff back.

He is right, just set your run your memory @200mhz and go for a higher clock.

I think im just going to return the RAM and get something that can actually perform

I already returned a DFI lanparty because it wasnt compatable with this memory... looks like I should have just returned the memory

So you think I've maxed out my processor?

I have it running at 2475 mhz right now at 23 degrees C.

Why would an extra 80 mhz max it out?
and is there any way around this?

Akassasin: If I were you I would start aiming at 2600+ MHz as I had trouble in the 25xx range and decided to leave it out and aim'd for 2600. It worked well so I tried 2640 using 240*11 and pushed it further using 1 Mhz increments. After days of testing I found that 241*11 worked for me using the Corsair VS running at 378. The memory running at those speeds is fast enough for all things except Super PI.

3D Mark 2003 - 12367 on memory running at 378

My 3200+ seems to really hit a wall around 2.4. It'l do 2.4 at 1.45V, but cannot do 2.5 even at 2.55V. Zebo who seems to be pretty informed about these things told me in another thread that it is pretty common for winchesters to just hit a wall like that, and no sane amount of voltage can get you past it. Thats interesting thriemus had problems in the 2.5 range, but 2.6 works, i'm going to have to try that when I get home. I was just trying to go up in small steps, but when 2.5 seemed impossible i didn't put much effort into trying 2.6.

Well damn I finally solved the problem.

After doing some research I found out that the Chaintech board cannot supply CPU voltages between 1.45 and 1.6 even though 1.5/1.55 are listed in the bios!! If anything between is chosen it just reverts to 1.45!
So I set the CPU voltage to 1.6 and bam it works. Oc'd to 2.7 ghz sitting at 28 degrees.
hooray

thanks for all the help everyone
now for memory timings!

edit: you were right TJ

How the hell are you getting CPU Temps in the 20's!? Are you water cooling? Do you know how cold it would have to be ambient temperature wise to achieve that.
