I got in on the Dell Dimension 5150 w/ 20" lcd deal from last week or two weeks ago. I only got the base ram available, 512mb ddr2 (2x256).
Then went to fry's to get some Corsair Value Select sticks, 1gb ddr (2x512mb).
Computer worked fine for a couple days. Then one day, the computer froze at POSTing. The diagnostic lights at the front of the computer say Bad Memory.
Took out the Corsair sticks, computer boots.
Put the Corsair sticks back in, took the Dell sticks out, computer boots.
Put the Dell sitcks in, left the Corsair sticks in, computer DOES NOT boot.
Hmm... The sticks are idential in speed (PC4200 533), but different in size (2x256 and 2x512).
Was this a recipe for disaster and/or should I go back to fry's for a replacement Corsair pair?
