How is the quality of Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4?
Here
With the $50 rebate they look like a good deal and I always see good reviews of the memory quality and speeds, but nearly 1/4 of all customers seem to end up with atleast 1 dead/bad stick. Does corsair have really bad quality checks, or are these restocked memory?
I wouldn't mind if people were complaining about having to manually set timings because thats no big deal, but the number of complaints about DOA sticks is not so reassuring.

Also has anyone had experience with their rebates? Is it timely and hassle-free?
$50 is a rather large rebate and I'm also planning to buy the Corsair 620HX psu (which I've heard only good things about) which also comes with a rebate.

I bought Corsair XMS in October (2X512 DDR2 800 - 6400 5-5-5-12). It worked fine for awhile (at stock - I never OC'ed) and then one stick went bonkers. PC was crashing all of a sudden with increasing frequency. When I ran Memtest one stick had 1000 errors in a few minutes. I think Corsair is good compnay with good reps and forum but something must have gone awry the last months. I had wanted to add 2x1gb Corsair but went with G.Skill instead for now.

I haven't bought any Corsair this year, but I have bought a lot of it in the past and never had a problem. I have put a lot of both their value line and XMS into many rigs.

I'm running a pair of the DDR2 800 2x1gb 5-5-5-12. It's been working fine so far (at stock), and I just got the rebate, for what it's worth.

I bought a 2GB kit of DDR2 667 Corsair XMS from Newegg a year or two ago. Still running strong. Monthly memtest runs haven't shown any errors.

Same here. It's easy to judge a company badly because of one bad experience, though, so bear in mind every company has dodgy batches and the important thing is how they deal with that and support the customer that is important. I've used Corsair ValueRAM in the past and they've been quite reliable. Their customer service has a good reputation too.

I just had a 1gb stick of the xms 3500LLpro go bad and had to send the matched pair back. I also put another matched set of xms2 pc6400 into my current build and it also had a $30 rebate which I'm still waiting for. Those xms sticks are the only ones I've ever had to rma the entire time I've been building pc's. I've used ram from kingston, corsair, mushkin, pny, micron plus many no name generic sticks. I'm really leaning towards those crucial ballistix as I'm considering taking this rig up to 4gb total. I'm wondering if I mixed sticks like that if they would play nice.

Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800 $99 AR

Cheap and good.

I have had some good and some bad experiences with Corsair. Good was the 2GB ValueRAM kit that ran CAS 2.5 versus CAS 3 rating. Bad was the 2GB CAS 2 XMS that had one completely dead stick new from box. Replacement only worked at CAS 3.

I purchased the CL5 (5-5-5-12) version of the kit you posted last August (probably the same version as Skeeedunt). It was $200 after rebates then, and prices went up after I bought it. I think they are selling for about $100 after a rebate on NewEgg, so the CL4 version is a better buy and is probably the better-binned version of them.

For me and in reviews I've read on the site, the CL5 kit runs at 800MHz, 4-4-4-12 with absolutely no problems on stock voltages (1.9v). I currently have them at 667MHz (for the 1:1 ratio), 3-3-3-8, at 2.1v and it's been perfectly stable so far after many hours of intense gaming. I haven't had any problems but if you're worried, I think 2x 1GB DDR2-800 CL4 kits like the Crucial Ballistix and the OCZ Platinum series are selling for the same price after rebates.
