edit: I guess copy and paste won't format nicely,

I think the Costco tracking page doesn't provide the detailed shipping info.
Would you please copy the UPS tracking number and paste it into the tracking window on the UPS page.
I would like to know the origin point of the shipment.
Thanks.

Hmmm, I've just entered the tracking info of my prior notebook Costco purchase.
UPS doesn't provide the place it's been shipped from either.
It lists "USA" as the originating point of the shipment.
Weird.

Costco's return policy is fantastic, you just have to know how to utilize, and not abuse it. I worked for Costco for 2 years, in electronics sales no less, so I know how it all works. I was that guy who when you returned something mechanical/electronic had to come sign off to make sure you were including everything that came with it, and that the model numbers matched, etc.

When you return anything to Costco, just to make the process easier on them, and on yourself, the product you are returning is "broken." This obviously doesn't apply to clothing returns or anything of that sort. But for electronics, you're much more likely to get hassle about that tv you're returning 1 year later if you're just saying, "Meh, I don't like it anymore" than if you were saying, "The audio crackles, and the colors scramble after it is on for long periods of time."

Make sure you bring back everything that came with it too, including the receipt (makes the process flawless). Manuals aren't as important when returning an item, but they sure are nice to get back. Be sure to include all relevant cord(s), the remote(s), and obviously the main item itself (dvd player, tv, stereo, etc) when making a return. The receipt is important because it displays the item # right away, and they can look it up. It obviously shows your (hopefully) Costco card ID # on it, showing you were the one who made the purchase, but it also protects you from price drops. You can return items to Costco without the receipt, but say that tv you bought was $500, but a year later they had dropped the price to $350. Well, without a receipt, Costco will refund you the last sold price to protect themselves. So even if you did pay $500, you can't exactly prove it without your receipt. Online purchases are different, and they can be looked up per Costco card ID #, so they "should" be able to display what you paid. They of course reimburse the full cost, including item, taxes, and shipping!. All in all, keep those receipts!!

Costco has an implemented system with their manufacturers. Because they buy in such large bulk quantities, they have (with around 90%+ of their manufacturers) a return system where they themselves get reimbursed 100% of what they paid. So don't go hanging that guilt on yourself (or let your wife hang guilt on you!) when you return something to them, whatever it may be, because they are (almost assuredly) getting their money back as well for being such power sellers for their manufacturers.

Just some info for the public! Gotta run, returning my Sceptre 27" lcd from last year's deal, so I can pay $100 more for this 32". >_> My inputs have stopped working (funny enough, they truly have, hah). Too bad I lost my receipt in the move, but I'm taking my chances that my purchase is accessible on the computers!

Thanks.

Since there is no dvi connector, kinda a bummer, I'd suggest a dvi-->hdmi conversion cable. It'll be a better picture than your vga or s-video cable will be. But, if you're gonna run another hdmi source to it, it sucks to have to unplug cables all the time, and you may just want to consider using vga.

cyn- Thanks for the great info regarding the return policy. What is their policy on projectors? My Infocus 4805 that I purchase over a year ago started making weird sounds coming from the fan, and eventually it stopped working (probably due to the bulb.) However, there are no more 4805s and their newer version probably wouldn't be as good (haven't looked into it for a while.) It's been sitting in my basement fofr 6 months without working.

Ouzome, you can definitely still take it back. If you have the receipt, I'd guarantee you myself they'd give you your full purchase price back.

However, if you cannot find it, you can still take it back if you take all the relevant accessories back with it (manual, cables, projector, etc) they can look it up in the system by the model # to attempt finding the item number. You will take the chance of losing money if they lowered the price on the projector, but it'd be better than sitting broken in your basement (or paying $100's for a new bulb)! Give it a shot, if you don't like something about it (ex. the price was WAY lowered and is less than you want to accept) you can always say no.

YMMV also with Costco returns. Some stores have very nice helpful employees, and some have power tripping craphole ones. Having been to your local Costco, you probably know which type your's employs. Also note, if something goes wrong at your Costco with a return in some way you don't like, you can always drive to another Costco to attept a return! There is virtually no communication between stores.

As stated above as well, although rare, Costco managers can reserve the right to allow a return. We had a guy buy 3 or 4 laptops, and return them JUST before the 6 month return policy was up. He tried it again, and someone noticed he was doing this, and his attempt to return was denied at our store. He could have drive 20+ miles to return it to another store, and get away with it, but it was noticed at our store and he was denied. No attempts to call nearby stores were made to warn of the guy I'm sure, no one ever does that, although they would be smart to.

I hope the QAM tuner is sensitive and powerful enough to pickup unscrambled local HD channels.

This will be on the wrong side of the house to get a good OTA signal.

You may have seen this before . This was added to the bottom of my ship-confirm e-mail. I am not an expert tv purchaser so it makes me feel a little better.

Also read on their sire that online purchases can be taken back to BM.

Yes, Costco.com purchases can most assuredly be taken back to BM stores. In fact, I believe they have to be. Costco also guarantees your satisfaction with their membership as well. It's called their double guarantee. If you aren't satisfied with their merchandise after a purchase, or with your membership at any time after enrolling, you can receive a full refund at any time. A bit of info for non-Costco (CA, though maybe other states also...) members, you can purchase your liquor from their stores without a membership per California law. Just go in and say you need to get a temp liquor membership and you can buy however much you want (not sure if there's a limit, but it's at least 5+ bottles...). And for those of you that don't know their prices, they are exceptional. All 1.75L bottle price examples as follows, iirc >.<: Smirnoff $16, Skyy $20, Absolut $26, Jack Daniels $26, Jose Cuervo $26. Corona 24 packs for like $23 bucks as well. Just FYI!

Oh, my estimated arrival date was today for my tv, but it didn't show!! Argh! My tracking page was updated though and it's in Cerritos, and will def be here tomorrow.

Correct. It's free shipping, but there is tax if applicable, and in CA a $10 waste fee.

I just got mine today! It is a very good looking tv, it has a very sleek design to it, and the layout on the back for inputs was done right (ie you plug up into the inputs). The picture itself I didn't have much time to work with as I had to leave for Thanksgiving. I did quickly hookup the HDMI input from an upconverting 1080i dvd player, and the picture looked pretty nice, though I know I can get it better. The video tweak settings itself within the menu is pretty extensive, and I plan on altering it with Digital Video Essentials dvd once I get it for Christmas!

But really, for this price, I am very please with what I've seen so far. If you are on the edge and cannot decide, I say go for it, and worse comes to worse, you take it back to Costco if you are unhappy with it. Whether you have the money to do that, AND hit up Black Friday deals, that is up to you. I am quite happy with what I've seen so far for sure!

I think people have a hard time imagining the size of a 32" lcd as well. When you see it in the store, it is inevitably by 42"-65" tvs of similar types, and you just cannot judge how big it will look where you'd plan to put it. Here is a random pic I found online showing the size of a 32" tv:

32" LCD TV

It also does ship from Ontario, CA, and I ordered mine on Saturday, received it Weds!

Now there's a useful review, I'll order one tonight after I find my costco card (I'd hate to pay an extra 5% just out of laziness)

Ross I haven't tried either. :-/ I don't have a DVI-->HDMI cable or converter, and I didn't have time to unhook the regular setup to try the OTA card. >_< If you're struggling, like I said I'd definitely check this deal out, and if you aren't satisfied just take it back!

As someone who works for a larger electronics retailer, I don't believe that in the least. BS. That explanation is really lame. Especially after the warranty period is completed - the manufacturers have no reason to take back a bad product, nor does it benefit them at all. The economics of that claim just does not make sense. I can say for certain that one of the highest sources of losses in the retail electronics business are returned and defective products. I have and do work in services/repair for the past 5 years and I understand the back-end pretty well.

In the end Costco is paying for this in some way, probably in a big way. The benefit to Costco, however, is a solid customer loyalty - and that's money in the bank.

For those who fraudulently return products under this or any warranty you should think twice. Someone pays for this, and yes, its usually large monolithic companies but in the end that cost comes back to ALL of us in higher prices. Plus, its immoral and unethical and you should hang the guilt on yourself, its not okay.

dew.

When shopping for an HDTV, do I have to ask about QAM, or do they all come with it?

Well, I can honestly say for the 2-3 years I worked for Costco, that was the explanation I always received, and that's with experience working some time of that in merchandise returns.

Without having actual experience with a bulk wholesaler and their practices (such as Costco), I'm not sure I'd comment on their agreements with their distributors. Consider if 10 in 100 or 1000 tvs gets returned, but the others all sell, and the next batch, and the next, you as a manufacturer would eat the cost of that few % to secure the sales of the other. Particularly when you can remanufacture the product and resell it that way as well, for what I'm sure is still a profit for the company.

And from that I'll consider no guilt. I love Costco, and until I'm told otherwise or shown some hard figures, I'll go on believe what I was fed for the years I was there. /thumbs-up

Also Navid, no not all TVs come with QAM, but it's not as important to some as it is to others, depending how your local cable distributes their signals. Do a search for QAM on Wikipedia for a little more info!
