Recently I had Costco Pharmacy remove my prescription drug benefit information because it was cheaper and more convenient to just pay the regular Costco price. Seriously, for Rx X it cost me $ for 30-days using Caremark at Costco pharmacy 2x$ for 90-days without Caremark. Caremark disallows 90-day supply in non-CVS. Going to CVS is even more expensive.

Been there, my company forced Caremark to allow other pharmacies thankfully for 90 day scripts. Costco has great pharmacy pricing, it can be best just to pay outright if it's a common generic. I have always wondered in these cases, who keep the extra money? Costco or Caremark?

Where Costco fails is in fresh fruits and veggies. The Mexican grocery stores beat them on price and quality every time. My guess is that the Mexican grocers have a much shorter supply chain so produce is closer to ripe when picked.

Most any independent local produce store is going to beat the big boxes on both price and freshness. To borrow a phrase, everybody knows this.

I like it just for the sake

Nope, they are sold officially by Amazon, not a 3rd party seller. That would also be incredibly stupid.
People do it to up their rating and raise the price later. Think of it as an advertising expense.

Just signed up for costco since I could split the cost with someone and I was very underwhelmed with the prices. Most items were around the same price or more expensive than the grocery I frequent, except you have to purchase a larger quantity at Costco. One outlier was milk which is significantly cheaper, but I'm not sure going about 2 miles out of my way to save just on milk is worth it. I didn't see much if any savings on the meat I frequently buy although I guess I didn't check the ground turkey. I'm pretty sure this overhyped reputation Costco enjoys is just another part of the fake news liberal media. I'll give it another couple visits before I decide whether to cancel or not.

You just need to know how to shop there. They have great selections of coffee, at prices your not going to find anywhere else, especially if you shop the monthly specials, which many of the best items repeat every other month. Most of their supplements are as cheap as it gets, the CoQ10 is on special every other. The roasted chickens for $4.99 are three times the size of the 8 or 9 dollar ones from Publix, or any other grocer, but the majority of what Costco sells isn't grocery items, they are not really a grocery store, but the $4.99 chickens alone justify the membership. But the quality of what they sell is far better than anywhere except for maybe Whole Foods or Sprouts, at probably half their prices. Bought a Calvin Klein leather jacket for $99, same one was over $300 in several local stores, got my Mother an Isabel Fiori? hobo bag at $69, $369 most stores. Got an Electrolux vacuum for $80 less than other stores that came with extra attachments not offered anywhere else. Best of all, there's no time limit on returns, the vacuum I bought had a small piece break off almost 2 years later and they took it back like it was nothing as if only a day passed. Most of the frozen and refrigerated foods they offer are restaurant quality for less than the typical name brand over-processed stuff from regular supermarkets, you could completely cater a party with what they have to offer. The "Kirkland" store brand products are very often the top picks of consumer reports, such as their paper towels, laundry soap, tp, their Greek yogurt number one pick and the cost for two containers is about the same as one of the major brands. Their canned white tuna is the best I've ever had, at first glance it seems more expensive but their cans are way larger, and the whit tuna inside isn't "chunks", it is a big solid tuna steak block. They have 5lb bags of Tyson panko breast fillets on special every other for like $9 something...two bucks a pound and they rock, as good as any restaurant's, makes the ones from Zaxby's taste like something from Mc.Dees. And these big bags of "Ultimate fish sticks" and they are like 90% filet strip of fish with a light panko crust coating, same cost-wise as the garbage 70% breading ones usually made for kids. The chicken and the shrimp salads are really good, most other take and bake meal stuff is pretty bland though. The sheet cakes in the bakery are twice as good as Publix, half the price and three times the size. Their gasoline is like 50 cents less than any where around. Got a case of Mobile one full synthetic for under $20, a full synthetic oil change is like $100+. Most stuff you buy from there they have negotiated a better deal than you get for same item somewhere else, like their Keurig came with a hundred assorted k-cups, a my-k-cup adaptor and a k-cup holder for the same price as just the machine elsewhere. And got new Michelins on my infiniti at a price no one else came close to, and since that's all they do, no "list of needed work" (beware NTB, thieves!) Of course republicans don't mind paying higher prices for things, it just makes stuff seem "better", right?! I mean it's worth every penny of the $1.5 million Americans have to pay each day just for that trashy whore wife of Trumps to stay at Trump tower, and so what if all that money on top of that to house all the 100 security agents in Trump tower is laughingly going right into Trumps pockets. And I'm sure the fact that in only 6 months time the money (our money) spent just on the Trump family's personal travel expenses has already surpassed what the Obama's family travel expenses were for the entire 8 years in office. I mean look at ho much more we are getting for our money, amazing how much he has accomplished so far despite spending 38 of his first 80 days in office on vacation at all the many different Trump properties... And I'm sure climate change has no connection to the recent findings that now 2/3 of the entire worlds coral reefs are now dead due to a 3-4 degree change in ocean temps. And without coral reefs, other sea life won't survive. But hey, who needs seafood when we have "coal"! By the end of his term we all might be living luxurious lives like the chinese, and know our children's futures as "little factory workers" and "coal miners" is a secure one! And who knows, a pardon for VW having put out 48 times the legal limit of emissions for the past 8 years is probably right around the corner also! What's more exhaust fumes going to hurt, with as much smoke as that orange oompaloompa is blowing up everyone's ass by telling them what they want to hear, they might as well be getting it from both ends at the same time, shorter lives=healthcare savings!

Never been to costco, but I was unimpressed with the couple warehouse membership stores I checked out. Prices weren't that great, and stuff came in sizes not particularly useful. Also, limited brands. Might be good for quasi institutional use, but I don't see much point for small households.
Actually that sounds like Sams Club, definitely geared more to the people stocking their convenience stores. Costco deals in higher end items for the consumer. You won't find $300 Calvin Klein leather coats there like Costco sells for $99, Isabella Fiore and Kenneth Cole $300-$400 bags for $69-$79, Versace china, Ralph Lauren whatever, that's the difference. It isn't geared towards Walmart shoppers looking to buy bulk biggie size supplies. And they sell a huge assortment of catered quality prepared gourmet foods that they also have out for sampling as your shopping... And their buying programs for Autos and Travel are unbeatable also.

My wife bought a gallon of milk at Aldi today for & 1.69.
Yeah, for grocery staple items Aldi is awesome, most things a good $1.00 less than all other grocery stores. And they have the best flavors of chicken salad, huge chunks of breast meat for only $2.99 lb. Some people don't care for them selling their branded products, but actually 90% of what they sell is made for them by the national brands, all I have tried have been as good or better, so I'll buy their Nutrigrain and fiber one and Belvita bars for $1.39 over $3-$4 bucks any day. It's shocking to get a cartload of food for what you would pay for a few bags worth at Publix or other stores.

Also, their contact lenses and glasses are cheaper than nearly anyone. Hell, you can get designer frames for glasses for under $100 that cost $400+ at those chain shops.

Yeah, prices are good, although the cheapest is ordering from one of the online places, if you know your size frames, PD (pupillary distance, measure between pupils) and frame choices, etc.
BE VERY WEARY of whoever may be managing the eyewear department at your individual Costco. One of the arms broke off of the first pair of frames i had gotten there only three months earlier. I took them in expecting the same great customer service they are known for, and the asshole looks at them, starts scribbling on a piece of paper and hands me the name of a eyewear chain store and the persons name to ask for at the adjacent mall! I immediately went into postal mode! I said if they won't replace the arm then I am returning them. He tells me the eyewear department's policy is separate than that of Costco, I demanded to see something in writing, especially since I had bought "Kirkland " branded frames. Tells me their eyewear has NO warranty, I'm like do you really think people would buy here if you disclosed that? Walmart even has a one year no questions asked guarantee! He doesn't care, and tries to dismiss me. I said ok, fine, then I will at least cut my loses at the membership desk and get a return on that, you can ask for a refund of your membership at any time! Then he got nervous, and came around to seeing my view, (not really) and agreed this ONE time since they were cheap $39 kirkland frames, which I loved regardless of the maker, he would get replacement frames, but only this once! As I was leaving I said to my Mother "ok, if the next ones break then I will get my membership fee refunded! After returning home and researching for any info on the policy, finally pulled up a page from their own shopping
'magazine" The Costco Connection, an article/advertisement about their great in-store eyewear department. And in the article it states "and they even come with the same no hassle return policy as all the other great Costco items! (Except electronics, which generously comes with double the manufacturers warranty...) I printed it up and gave it to him as I was leaving from picking up my new frames, telling him "So did you lie to me about the policy on eyewear just because you enjoy f-ing with people, or are you really just clueless and in a position that your not trained or qualified for?! " I actually think I saw a black man turn red! I have a world of patience and compassion for anyone, even a fast food worker, because I have been in those shoes. But don't BS me just for the heck of it because you either get off on it or your working a job you hate and your misery wants some company...
And the new glasses they put my lenses in? Same name, model number, color, etc. but on the new pair where the arm hinges to the frame was different, way beefier, like there was a problem in the original design maybe?! Now the new manager (the old one left after "someone" complained about an experience very similar to mine...?!) is totally helpful, even let me know there were several other inexpensive frames my my old lenses would fit into, while I saved up a bit to get a new pair of Mikli frames at a later date... If someone doesn't like their job and doesn't care if their doing it right, there's someone else waiting to take their place that actually wants the position. If we all do our part to make things right then we all win in the long run...

Never looked but do they have Almond milk now? Love that stuff, better than milk. That soy milk taste like MIlk of Magnesia, and probably good for women, but can cause infertility and breast in men, not sure if it's because it's soy or possibly GMO related, (Grotesquely Mutated Organics) Corn... just say NO!

My co-worker goes there occasionally for lunch and has said it's pretty decent for the price. I gave in and went with him recently and got their hot dog, a pretzel & cheese, and a Coke for pretty cheap. The hot dogs are the big, ~1/4lb kind and they have sourkraut there (OH BILLY). Pretzel was delicious. I would definitely go back. I don't know about him but I'm definitely not a member there. I will say though that there was a lot of people there (it was around noon) and we only got a seat because an older guy was finishing up and gave us his.

It may be regional, but has anyone tried their beef fajitas/flank steak? Absolutely phenomenal.

We frequently get the bourbon or Italian seasoned pork medallions, and recently got the bulgogi beef (though I think that was a very limited thing )
