I once puter a rain soaked newspaper in the microwave to dry it out. I guess I wanted to read the Fry's ad. In any case, it burst into flames with a major POP and the microwave gave up it's life.
Wife took it back to COSTCO and go a full refund

I heard that costco won't mount tires on your car if its not the factory spec'ed size. my boss told me this because he has a bigger size tires on his F150 before taking it to costco, and had to settle for a smaller, factory size inorder for them to put it on his car. They'll put the tires on the rims, but won't put the rims w/the new tires on the car. i find this very strange but it happened to my boss at work several weeks ago.

I was there today checking on plasma+ dlp tv's and this lifetime warranty is still in effect in Nj. I asked about extended warranties and the lady at service asked why I would want one when I can return it any time for any reason. Am still trying to decide which to buy tomorrow. The very nice lady said to keep my receipt to get the full price back on my return. I should have bought my last rpt tv there as it died the last day of warranty.
Oh, no doubt about it. From the first time I shopped there it's been a favorite place to shop. This is not even thinking about their return policies, which I've never really availed myself of, although I tried, as described in my last post. I have shopped there regularly since I joined and that must have been around 1990 or even a bit earlier. I did one time buy a Sony 300 disk CD changer and couldn't believe it didn't have a basic feature I expected. I found a player at Good Guys that had my feature so I brought the Sony back to Costco - I'd only had it a couple of days, returned it with all the orginal stuff and got a refund. That's nothing more than almost any electronics store would do. They all seem to have a 30 days return policy, I believe.Originally posted by: misterj
costco rox. i knew about this policy, but now that i've read this thread, i think i will try to shop there more. or even buy a membership since asking my family is bothersome.
ethics- i'm sure costco is fully aware of this. when computer returns started to be taxing, they changed it. they'll change the policy on other items if it ever poses a problem obviously. in the meantime, it rox.

I love Costco still even though they are more strict on their return policy. I still go there religiously every weekend to buy groceries and other supplies. Even if the price is sometimes a little higher (ie diet coke), I dont care because they have been so cool and I am loyal to them.

I returned a 4 year old 19" monitor that died on me. I didn't have the receipt, but I did have the box. They told me they don't typically return things that old (especially since it was discontinued), but that they would do it for me that time, and they gave me a store credit for the amount I originally paid. For what it's worth, it's the first and only time I've done that. If someone started to abuse the policy, I'm sure they'd note it on their membership profile.
Well, they sent me off SOL when I brought back my 5 year old answering machine that didn't operate acceptably on occasion. I didn't bitch. Seems likes Costco's return policy is very much a YMMV type of thing. They tell one person one thing, another person something entirely different. One of those types of things. I try to keep my receipts, but don't always. I didn't have mine from the answering machine, but I did have the instructions. I'm going in there today to buy a car battery. I think their deals on car batteries are fairly good. I paid about $61 for one a couple of years ago (for my other car) and it had a 7 year prorating warranty and 2 years at 100%. I guess I'll have to put it in myself and bring my baddy to Kragen, but that's no biggie.Originally posted by: nealh
I have been told by mulitple employees they can look up a receipt so this is not need ed for a return but all the items(do not need the box)
They have said to me you can return an item for life in most cases...I asked about an LCD monitor..one employee at the service desk said for as long as your member...another said a 1 yr
Bottom line is do not abuse a great policy...for the most part they are very nice and pleasant to deal with
Love the place
Hate to see idiots trying to screw..I lost the item and I want my money back...crap
