Costco price match policy

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but I thought I would post it so that it might help someone. I was in Costco today and noticed that the big screen tv that I bought around Thanksgiving was $200 cheaper than what I had paid. I went back home and got my receipt. They handed me the cash including the tax for the difference. The difference in time was over 30 days, but they did it anyway. No problem at all. I love Costco!

Its better than tempting you to return the item for a full discount. I love Costco.

Costco is the best place to buy any systems as well. My cousin now has a free lifetime warranty on his xbox 360.

when i did that i didn't get the tax refunded, turns out they tax the whole entire amount, then subtract the discount after tax. when i went back for mine they just handed me $300 cash.

I paid over $2000 for a tv in June, and a couple months later I noticed it had gone down $264 40 days after I got it. I called and they refused to price match.

I talked with the local store manager, not trying to return it but asking about the policy and she said she was very selective on returns and would never accept a return like that.

In December when it had gone down to $1299 and had the second HDMI port added, I talked with another store, telling them I was wondering and had mixed feelings that it's sort of screwing the manufacturer to return it and buy it at the lower price. They said go ahead it's ok, but I haven't.

It still doesn't seem quite right, even though I would never had bought it when I did if I had any idea of the coming price drops (I didn't even unpack it for a couple months).

all tv's will go down in price and get better as time goes on...........
you would imagine they would have to change their policy at some point if it gets out of control?

I asked a manager about this. He indicated that they deal with the abuse-ability of their policies on a case-by-case basis - that they will occasionally refund someone's membership fee and essentially boot them if a trend develops, but that they do not seek to punish the majority of their customers for the "sins" of a few.

I was impressed with what this guy had to say, impressed enough, in fact, to pay full retail for a 360 bundle from them.
