Well it looks like Costco just started carrying the Samsung 215TW. I just bought one out here in Maui where I live yesterday.
Gaming in F.E.A.R. has been awesome, the only issue I saw with the LCD was some minor background leakage, very faint, nothing noticeable at all gaming.
I noticed over at Tweaks R US site, on their HOME page, LOOK at the upper left and right of the page, it is slightly lighter in color a BLENDED color, it goes from the top on the left, down to the "Home" link and on the right side the same length down.
Some people might not notice this slight lighter shade they have on the website, but with the LCD I see that light area show up with horizontal bands running through it, it's not smooth and clear.
Personally this banding was the only big thing I noticed about this LCD.
With tkknights banding tools he made I did not notice any banding, other then a few very slight strips that would appear at the bottom of all the tests on the lower left grey scale side appearing as very faint vertical stripes, around 3-4 of them.
Looking straight on they where barely noticeable, you typically had to move your head left and right to see them better.
But as far as banding in all the colors showing all over the place there was none.
And 2D Image quality and text on this LCD was very nice, clear and crisp.
In F.E.A.R. I had the game on 1680x1050 all game settings on MAX, using the latest XTreme-G 84.56.v3 Public Beta driver and I was really impressed with the gaming in this thing, no lag, tearing, ghosting, nothing.
One thing though, when going into darker areas on a map, where say your gun isn't as visible I notice the image of the weapon isn't all that noticeable, like if you where looking at it on angle the way a LCD would look off set viewing. Maybe this is common on a LCD or just particular panels.
So that was a slight let down loosing image quality some what in shadows, lower lighted areas on a map.
Because of this slight background leak and color gradient banding, I'm going to take it back today and swap it for another one.
Let you all know how that one goes. In the meantime if I can get one without any background leakage and no gradient banding, I think until something better comes along in the 23"-24" range this is going to be a nice keeper till then.
ALOHA
