Could a girl abort if the father wants the baby?

My girlfriend and me have different views on abortion. She?s extremely for abortion and I am against abortion with a few exceptions.

We were discussing abortion and she told me if she ever got pregnant she would abort. I told her that if she got pregnant with my kid and didn?t want to share responsibilities with me then I would gladly take care of the baby with the help of my family. But she says that she doesn?t care if I could take care of it, she would just abort it because its her right and she doesn?t want the baby to grow up knowing his/her mother didn?t care for him/her. She says its her body that?s being affected so its her decision.

We got in a big fight over this and are not having sexual relationships for a while :/

The question is, if she got pregnant with my kid can she abort even if I accept full responsibilities.

I live in the state of Florida, btw.

yes she can have an abortion with out your consent. it kind of sucks because the flip situation is very unfair to men.

Though I am anti-abortion, it would seem she has a little bit more on her side. If she wants an abortion because of the way she believes the baby will grow up and not have his/her real mother as a loving parent, then I suppose that's her decision to not pop that sucker out...

in most states (if not all) its the only mother's opinion that counts.

here's a little article in the phily inquirer about the subject: Link

The U.S. Supreme Court has consistently ruled that the father's interest in the fetus' welfare is not equal to the mother's right to an abortion because of the inescapable fact that the impact of pregnancy is greater on the woman's body than the man's.

Agreed...very unfair... the male should have equal say in the matter...

She has all the say like everyone else said. But she has a bigger sacrifice to make carrying a baby to term. If you and your girlfriend have a good relationship, then I think that if a pregnancy were to happen you'd be able to reach some kind of agreement regarding the future of the pregnancy despite your differing views. If you couldn't reach some sort of accord, than you probably shouldn't be together in the first place.

BTW, how many guys here chip in to help pay for their significant other's birth control?

I find this to not make sense,

It is BS because a man has no say in anything then, if the woman does have the baby and things do not work out he must pay child support.

I just think that is stupid, my roomate has a kid and can barely afford to do anything because of his child support payments which the mother uses to go out and buy an new truck and wardrobe with.

That really makes me mad they should at least be forced to spend the money on the kid, because of the child support. she barely even works maybe 10hrs a week :| All the while he had to get a second job to be able to pay child support along with his other monthly bills :|

Yea, its kinda messed up, if the girl wants the kid and the guys doesn't, she can still have it, but not vice versa...

I am strongly pro-life, and if I were in your case, I'd find a new gf. I don't negotiate on that issue.

well what did you expect - you were going to "talk some sense into her"

how about being a little consistent in your views - since you don't want her to have an abortion, and she doesn't want to have a kid, the logical thing to do is avoid getting pregnant - and thereby avoid any conflict over the pregnancy issue - the only birth control technique that is 100% effective is abstinence - at least your girlfriend is being consistent...you apparently are not.

by the way, be careful what you wish for - if your really against abortion, and your next girlfriend gets pregnant...by the way, don't count on your "family" to help you raise your kid.. you are ultimately responsible. if your so hot to raise a child - grow up and get married.

I had a whack bitch girlfriend like that. Her opinions were so different from mine, I just couldn't handle it anymore. The sex was good and hard to sacrifice, but ultimately I was happier with Return to Castle Wolfenstein than hearing her bitch and moan 24/7 about how much of a fvck up I was. Now she just had a baby, she's unmarried, jobless, no education beyond high school, and I'm doing very well in college

Dump that hoe, holmes. You don't need her.

legally i'm pro choice, practically and morally i'm pro life. I don't believe it should be legislated, BUT i don't see many circumstances where I would approve of an abortion.

Is it JUST her body?? obviously how you define the "body" of the unborn child determines where you stand on the issue, BUT if you believe that a concieved life is a LIFE and a BODY and deserves EQUAL consideration to the woman, THEN you would have to conclude that the FATHER should have EQUAL say.

all those that talk about the sacrifices the woman has to make, THAT'S BS. she consented to the sex therefore she should be resonsible for her actions.

if the woman does have the baby and things do not work out he must pay child support.

The man doesn't pay child support by default. It all has to do with income. Because men on average make more than women, most people assume that men always end up paying child support, but it's not true.

If I was in your situation, I wouldn't have sex with her.

How could that POSSIBLY be true?? child support should be paid by the parent the CHILD is NOT staying with because the parent the child IS staying with is still bearing part of the burden. How much the make respectively might determine HOW much you have to pay, but if the child is going to stay with the MOTHER than the father will pay child support.
