I'm thinking of getting a notebook as a second computer and I'd like to know if I could play UT2K3?

Thanks,

You could get one of the high-end Dell or Gateway systems that come with 32mb (possibly 64mb??) Nvidia or ATI Radeon mobile video cards.

So yeah, you COULD probably get UTK3 to run on them, but I am sure it will run like crap.

You could get a second desktop system for half of what the above laptop would cost, and it would run UTK3 much, much better...

Depends on resolution and how much fancy things you have on. Try running the game with maxed settings and 1280 X 960. It should slow even your desktop system to a crawl.

I imagine that it would run fine on a newish laptop.
I've run it happily on a Celeron 833 with a Radeon 7200 and 256Mb ram, albeit at very low detail. A recent laptop with a decent graphics card should run it just fine. And even at low detail, it still looks pretty good.

If you pick up a machine with the Radeon Mobility 9000 you should be sitting pretty.

HardOCP article.

It runs pretty good on my Dell Inspiron 8200 1.6ghz w/GForce 4 Mobile 32mb. I run it at 1024x768 32bit. Some of the more complex levels run a little sluggish, though.

I'm thinking about picking up a Dell notebook with a Radeon Mobility 9000 in it for about $1800. I prefer the look and design of the Sony notebooks but they only come with the Radeon 7500. Does anyone know of any other manufacturer that is using the Mobility 9000 in their notebooks?
