Could I get away with this?

Looking at a modular PSU and want to make sure everything has enough juice. System I'm looking at building is as follows.

Q6600
780i Mobo
2 8800GTS (G92)
4GB DDR2 800
2 DVD
2 HD

I'm really liking the Corsair 620 but want to make sure it'll be ok.

It'll work, but your powerdraw could easily be 450w and upwards. http://www.extremetech.com/art.../0,1697,2253572,00.asp Check out the 3d and CPU load for a single 8800GTS 512mb. Also check out this review: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com...-x2-1gb-review-14.html with a load of 338w on a single 8800GTS 512mb. Add another one, and we'll definately see 400w and more. Anandtechs review showed quite different numbers though: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3209&p=12 . Which was the reason I was a little weary to post, because I simply don't know for sure. I don't know how exactly anandtech measured the power draw, by perhaps running BioShock only, whilst a game like Crysis, with more CPU utilization could draw more power ?

In the end, if we assume 400w and more, which I think is pretty much doable, 100w a card, 150w for a overclocked q6600, other components, is easily 400w or more. I don't know, you'll probably be running the 620hx near 75% of it's capacity, which I think is a bad thing, and 750w would probably be a better thing, to get near 50-60% of the PSU's capacity.

What is another brand that comes as highly recommended as the Corsair but is still modular? Price is also a factor but I do have some give one way or the other. I'm thinking around $170 like the Corsair. I don't suppose it has to be modular but I'd like to be able to provide better cable management than I have in the past. My current set looks like a rats nest.

Let's see, http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817608007 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817139006 for example. The first PSU also comes in 750w flavor, and is of course a little cheaper. There's also this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817371009 but last I heard it does NOT play nice with nvidia videocards. It's going cheap though, and it;ss a qaulity PSU, and modular to boot. But do doublecheck for the NVIDIA videocards trouble before purchasing it. Funny thing is, this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817182069 is actually pretty decent as can be seen here: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modul...iews&op=Story4&reid=60

Here's another good one, modular too: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817256009 review here: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modul...iews&op=Story4&reid=27 and here's another good one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817171024 but it's not modular, but can often be had for a lot less, not long ago it went for as little as 50-70$ !!! And the last one for now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817256016 if you need more, just ask, but this should be plenty to pick from.

Marc gives you very good recommendations.

The NVIDIA/Power Sentinel issue can happen with almost any PSU... But not to fear... I have worked out a workaround should it become an issue !! my fix is 100%. It is a rare issue with the(G92) cards, and the PSU/MOBO.
