No, completely abolish it, no phasing out no nothing. I will never have the investment opportunity these people have had with the Dow from 1k to 13k to 7k to 14k to 7k back to 10k.

Cute??? No, just the truth, but we all know how Neocons (now known as Republicans) hate the truth. They don't give a crap about anything but themselves. Fuck 'em, fuck 'em all.

you act like the dems actually care about anybody but themselves too, but sadly no, they are just as bad. govt has become too big (and has been for some time) and we are reaping its size.

it always cracks me up when people are so ignorant but stubborn to the reality that they actually believe that one side is any better than the other at this point in time.

I sure hope they DO scrap social security, or at least phase it out. Begin by saying no one born from now on will receive social security. Then, make a gradated scale such that, if you are currently, say, 55 or older, social security continues as-is. However, from 55 down to 25, the amount you are "entitled" to is reduced so that current 25-year-olds will not receive any social security.

Then, as years go by, reduce social security tax for EVERYONE by about 2% (of the current amount) per year so that in 50 years, everyone is "off the dole." It's a bit of a raw deal for the 25-year-old but, being one myself, I don't mind at all provided the social security tax is eliminated. I don't expect to ever receive a cent of the amount I'm paying in as tax right now.

Of course, that would require planning 50 years in advance and that no politicians afterward modify the plan and that will never happen. Politicians can't see beyond their own 4-year reelection bubble...

you take away the ss tax and i am sure another one would take its place w/ no return to anybody, just to grow the govt.

doesn't really matter when the dollar isn't worth shit though, and yes, i kick myself for not buying more gold when i could get it for $385/oz

Being 52 I hope I get some of my SS money back. If possible maybe I can get some of your money also. Good luck on trying to kill SS. Especially since I have worked in Education for the last 11 years and may be facing a reduction in my social security payments dut to restrictive federal laws. This is how the government rewards federal and state employees who pay into their own retirement plans.

At the time SS was perpetrated, the numbers who survived past 65 weren't many. Plan sounded good but really wasn't designed to pay much out - just a slush fund for buying votes and making seniors think they were beholden to (dependent on) the Dem. party or gov't in general. Another stupid socialist trick. Of course, the longevity took a sharp upward curve shortly after SS was perpetrated due to vast improvements in nutrition and medicine. Just another proof that socialist ideas (one size fits all) can't work (at least over time).

Well, parrot, it's clear in your blind ideological hate of SS for being a government program, you just make up the attacks against it.

The simple fact is, despite your claim it wasn't to help people, elder poverty before SS was 90%, and after SS it steadily declianed to a long-term 10% it is today. That's what matters not your citing doctrine.

They will inflate SS problems away by ever increasing money supply and no increase in payout. Amounts to the same thing. Say you get a check for $2200 and a gallon of milk of $10.50 and gas is $8.00. Does not go so far but you're still technically getting paid.

Social Security is nothing more then a book entry. Unfunded liability. Thank Lyndon Johnson for making this change to accounting into the "unified" federal budget.

My god are you always so dense? There are millions of people in this country and they all want it THEIR way. It's not like their are only two sides???

Who do people think they are that they can feel justified to nullify a promise that has been made because it is inj THEIR best interest?

Like I said before, fuck 'em. Fuck 'em ALL, so if the shoe fits, wear it.
