Dimension 4600 Micro-Tower: Pentium 4 Processor at 2.8GHz w/800MHz front side bus/ HT Technology Integrated Audio/ Video/NIC

128MB DDR ATI RADEON 9800 PRO

512MB DDR NON-ECC SDRAM 400MHz (2 DIMMs)

Looking for a new system, and this one at 450.00 seems pretty good. Also comes with a 160 Gig HD.

Does it have an AGP slot on the MB?

yes, it would
the agp slot in the MB is the main reason to buy that model instead of the 2400 (like i did)

That is practically the same set-up that I have for my computer, except I believe that my Demension is 2.4 ghz and I added a bit of ram so she's at 768 mb. I run HL2 very well and have not experienced any troubles playing a video game yet.

Well, not entirely, the only problem that I have is that I experience my processor overheating when I'm playing new games like HL2 and Doom 3. Just make sure you have it in a cool area is something.

BTW, the shipping on Dell's is $100 if you get it from Dell, just a heads up.

Yeah and if it's over $699 I have a %20 off coupon I can give you. Let me know what you think.

Does that thing come with the 9800pro and the 512 of ram? If it does, that seems like a pretty damn good deal. Even if it is a Dell.

I like the 160Gig HD it comes with too. Wish it came with a DVD burner, but it has a DVD rom and CDRW which should be good enough for me right now. At 450 after shipping it seems like a steal to me.

I've had a 4600 for about a year, and can't understand why Dell quit producing them. It's a good computer, and Dell delayed it's demise for awhile due to large demand. With only a half dozen or so on their refurb site, you'd better grab it quick. Don't look for too much "refurb", though. From what I see on Dell's forums, they pretty much just turn these systems around.

I decided to go ahead and get the system, I am upgrading from this:

1Ghz AMD Duron
ABIT KT7A Motherboard
320 Megs PC133 Ram
Geforce4 MX460

I am wondering what I could get for that on FS/FT.....

Yep...

I have a home built system with similar specs and I can run D3 at 45FPS. By what I have read Halflife2 is a bit lighter in the HW requirements... I think you should be fine.

The system came in yesterday. Cant believe how freakin cool it is. It is way way faster than my old PC. It runs Farcry very good (still waiting for HL2 to come in). The system looks cool, better than most dells have seen. I like the small size of it. I will probably be selling off my old computer to bump up to a gig of ram. Thanks for the replies on this thread

Congrats on the new system though

It fits under my desk. I had to sit my last computer sideway under my desk cause the case was too big, and had to move it in and out of its position to put cds in. Plus the small size means its more portable

You should get it up to 1024MB of ram though, it will help with the loading times, which are long enough with 1Gb ram.

I usually hit about 910MB ram usage when playing HL2, not to pention the pagefile
