Banning cheaters off wonid is a great way. I mean why the hell you want to play a game if you cheat? I guess winning is what those losers wanted instead of the fun playing.

WEll you can still bunny hop, But after you jump two times or more consetutivly, you slow down adn dont jump as high. Its still fun IMO

They took away jumping? ANything else? Did they change the damage boxes? No more insane headshots, right?

Those anti cheats... I think it was cheating-death, or that CS-gaurd, but I joined a game once and it said I was cheating and I needed to get rid of it before I could play. I have NEVER cheated and never even had a cheating program on my computer. This was MY clan's server and I was admin.

My neighbor is a Homeland Admin and he says everyonce in a while, a homelan server will say he's cheating too. If the valve one jsut thinks you're cheating, then bam, no more online CS? BULL!!

Yep, I remember when CS was beta 6 or 7, there was no cheaters, and the best times. Ever since then, its gone down hill from there. That's why I never even play that much CS, only at LAN parties and that's it.

WONIDs are going to go the way of STEAM ID's. SteamIDs are going to be coming in real soon now (if not already implemented with latest HLDS). Soon, Steam is what they want to charge for, but they gotta get some real good guarantees in before I'm buying into Steam. With the latest CS 1.4 and HL update, you can still run the cheats, but they aren't functional. It may only be some time before the cheats figure out what Valve has done and get around it again.

At least with Steam (and its monthly revenue), they will have to lock down the cheats pretty quick, or people will start demanding money back.

As far as I know, the new anti cheat basically prevents any "hooking" of the CS files. Sure, that stops those cheats.... but it doesn't stop others.

Cheating Death doesn't ban or tell you if you're cheating.. it just basically stops cheats from working properly. CSGuard however does ban and detect cheats. It does do false detections though.. it ain't perfect but it's better than nothing.

I like it! The didnt get rid of jumping, you just slow down after the first jump so you dont pick up speed when you jump. I think this is better. Everyone who keeps saying they will quit because of that is a big dumbass. The game is perfectly fine, even better. Plus there are no cheaters now Hope it lasts!

I just finished playing my first round in 1.4, and the headshots are as insane as ever.

The jumping thing is going to take some getting used to, however.

Does anyone here use Steam as beta right now? Is it worth trying out or is it dumb? I don't want to start paying to play CS, that would suck, but getting rid of cheaters sounds fun.

i'm thinking of switching over to Linux after my next format and install and i was wondering what do i need to play Counter Strike on Linux? Do i need the Linux port of Half Life (if there even is one) or do i just get the full Linux download of counter strike from whereveR?

Headshots are more insane now... I've played a few rounds where all the kills are headshots.
The AK is waaaaaaay too powerful now. It's deadly accurate when you crouch, and all you need to do to kill someone is: crouch, target, hold button for 1/2 second. It works every time now. Sooooo stupid. :|

Ok so waht servers are still hosting 1.3 and where can I download this 1.4 the one I just downloaded installed but still says that my dll files differ from the server! Whats up wit that ?

every time a new version has been released since beta 5 there has been whiners and criers
why'd they change this? why they change that? this game sucks now, i'm quitting
it's really sad yet very amusing..... it's not your game... you (most) didn't pay for it... get over it

how's the server count for version 1.4? i with 1.3, it took a few days before it was populated with servers running the latest..
