I never got the appeal of CS. Like, most games are all about faster and faster, while CS makes you wait for minutes at a time.

Also it doesn't seem to have much personality.

But yes, like Starcraft 2, CS is largely hostage to its fanbase.

I think if anything, CS should be slower to be more like real life. Bunny hopping shouldn't be possible, since in real life guys in swat gear don't jump. There ought to be a sort of aim setup delay of like 3 seconds to give guys a positional advantage.

I haven't played CSS in awhile, but I thought they got rid of bunny hopping in CSS and CS 1.6

They did. You also don't have to wait 'minutes at a time' since by default rounds are 2 minutes long.

I mean jumping like 2 feet up in the air while carrying several pounds of gear.

In real life, you need a running start to jump as high as that.

They turned bunny hopping off in like 1.4 or something. Before that people would run and jump around all over the place like in the original Doom.

Boy I hope my refund doesn't go through, the game is starting to grow on me, there are some things that still eat away at me, but overall the game works and that's what matters most.

if you want more realism play arma or even bf3... i like that CS is somewhere in between a realistic tactical shooter and a twitch FPS like quake 3.

it is a bummer when someone like me who plays only a little every now and then hops on a server with people that have played every day for like 5 years. the fact that there's some minor changes to these new maps helps a little... but when there's that big of a difference in skill... i usually think it's best to just find another server.

The one thing that is utterly pissing me off about this game right now is the 'scramble teams' vote. I'm all for having equal teams in games, but the way it's implemented right now means the entire game gets restarted if the vote passes.

I can't count the number of times someone's called the vote 10+ rounds in just because their team's losing. If one idiot on your team doesn't know how to vote, your game basically get annulled. So frustrating.

They need to do one of the following: make it NOT restart the game and just switch players, disable the option after 1 or 2 rounds, or disable it entirely.

just like the previous incarnations of the game, it's best to find one or 2 good servers and stick to those. the voting can be (and is) disabled by good server admins.

yeah... last night when i was playing, pretty much every server devolved into constant map votes.

This feels worse in every way coming from CS:S. Even the graphics seem like a step back. I'll be skipping this entry.

Honestly, if I were into CS this would seem like a pretty big step forward.

However, it's not as big a leap as TF2 was to TF Source. So I'm unimpressed.

Just bought the CS pack to play (I play CS:S casually and use to play 1.6 competitively)

After hearing lots of rumors of it being more like a return to 1.6, I was excited

After playing the beta for 30 min (only against bots, I am dissapoint)

Pros: Niceish graphics
Pros: New weapons
Pros: New gameplay elements (molotov/incendiary grenade is cool!, decoy grenade)
Pros: New map details

Cons: Removed gameplay elements (no silenced weapons????! at least in beta?)
Cons: Not 1.6 hitboxes

It feels like even more of a devolution from 1.6 than CSS was. They one shot taser kill thing seems stupid to me. I really miss 1.5/1.6 for the ability to knife-headshot someone and kill them in one hit from front or back. That made it so fun to pwn scrubs in pub...

And why did they take out the shield? It's not as if it was overpowered, only against noobs. I miss the balance of 1.6 (CTs had the shield, Ts had the slightly more powerful AK47)

I'm not going to enjoy CS:GO nearly as much as CS:S without the silenced M4 if there really isn't an option for that

I am curious to see what will come after the beta specifically in maps. New gameplay styles aren't bad but I wish they would do something really new (like the AS hostage escort missions in earlier CS) Why did they eliminate those?

As it is now I like playing CS:S, if not just because it's so easy to destroy people coming from 1.6 and earlier. When I'm feeling really serious, I play 1.6

At least deagle headshotting is still ridiculous in GO, and they didn't mess that up

Also the new weapons are basically useless, I do like the compact shotty though. I don't get the firepower rating system in the buy menu unless it's glitched- the shotguns have like 1 bar of firepower?

I could see you being upset with the gameplay since everybody likes different things, but how can you say the graphics are a step back? They're not ultra modern but this is a game that needs to run fast on all machines, but it's a huge improvement.

The taser is only available in Casual mode.

Shield was banned in just about every league there was. It was poorly implemented.

Yeah, I'm not a massive fan of the lack of silencer (largely because I preferred how the M4 'felt' with it on). But I've got used to it, and its not a massive detriment not having them otherwise since everyone knows where the hell everyone dies now anyway.

I've hardly used shottys outside of Arms Race games, but not all of the new weapons are bad. The Tec-9 for Ts is ridiculously good for the price - I find myself buying it over the deagle most of the time. On the flipside, the worst gun in the game for me right now is the Bizon - it feels like it has the shot-to-damage ratio of the Klobb from Goldeneye 64.

I just think the shield was fun for pubbing

I guess what bugs me is for me the standard (whether original CS or CS:S) is basically Deagle until I can get a Deagle + AK or M4, unless I'm feeling like a dick then it's Deagle + AWP

This seems to ALWAYS be the most efficient combo and the only time I'll pick up another weapon is if I find it on the floor or I feel like screwing around

There are some instances where the SMGs/Shottys can be ok like in close quarters but overall they just like versatility so what's the point?

I was hoping they would change this a little in CS:GO (make other weapons more viable) I guess I will have to see how it is once it launches! From what I read on a couple forums it sounds like the will implement silencers at launch, I hope

One thing I haven't investigated yet in GO is shooting through walls. It always felt like from 1.6 to CS:S they gimped that tremendously, so that you could basically only shoot through thin doors basically and hurt people. I don't know if you consider that good or bad because it cut down the amount of prefire a lot but I think it took out a fun part of the game that made it unique personally

In 1.6 you could shoot through 5 foot thick brick walls. Source changed it to mostly wood and sheet metal walls. Many of the new guns are extremely viable and it isnt just AK/M4/AWP anymore.

They have addressed that issue, you get basically no money from kills with rifles. The AWP gives $50 per kill and the rifles are what? $300? compared to every smg and shotgun that give $900 except for the PP-Bizon. You want to buy shotguns and smgs early on to get cash for the big weapons, and when you do get those you can't hold them forever unless you're really good.
