Can anybody jump directly to a new server while playing in another server? I can't... If I'm in a game, load up the server list, then try and jump into another game it seems to try to load for a fraction of a second but then I'm at the main menu again and nothing loaded. If I then join a server again it works. This worked in Source and it looks like it's trying, but something is broken.

I have all sorts of issues with the server browser. Often it will hang and then boot me back to the menu screen for no reason. The only way I've found around it is to join on a friend rather than joining through the server browser or console. If I try to join from favorites in the Steam window on the desktop, it tells me I don't have the third party app installed.

Is it just me or does it seem like CS:GO has WAY more headshots than 1.6 or CSS? Sure, when spraying close quarters you're bound to get headshots, but I have NEVER seen that many headshots on maps like scoutzknivez. You have at least a 50% headshot rate when youre shooting someone who is air strafing. So either the head hitbox got HUGE or I and every other player on the internet suddenly got REALLY good at scouting heads.

It's even worse with a game like gun game. I'd say over 50% of the kills are headshots in that game, even when randomly spraying from afar. Thoughts?

The head hitboxes are no doubt smaller than in source

I think you see more headshots in general because while the head hitbox is smaller than CS:S, the torso hitbox is WAY smaller, like almost half the size:

Making taking that extra split second of time to plant a headshot more worthwhile

I like it, amazingly tight and polished. Does feel faster than CS 1.6 though.

I suck at it though. Counter Strike has always been one of those games I have never been able to master and I don't know why, considering I first played it mid 2000 I am still shite.

What mouse sensitivity settings do you guys use? What is the best for Source that is basically 1:1 with desktop sensitivity?

I found a pretty cool server, you guys should check it out. I don't remeber the exact name, but just search, "reverse gun game". It's pretty fun and I actually managed to win one round.

I can def. see how the aiming and hit box stuff has changed now that I have put in a bunch of hours. If you are running and shooting...Forget it. Unless you are about 5 feet away from them, you won't hit. It seems like the best strategy is to just crouch and try for a kill.

Edit: Also...I haven't noticed anywhere in the screen when you buy or have a weapon, what the caliber sizes are. I know they have the p2000 and the p250, which in real life can take 9mm, .40, and .45acp, too I think. It would be nice to know which caliber size the gun really has in the game as that makes a difference.

That might be my server. Did it have a bunch of maps named gg_tpg_xxx? If so I did most of the maps on there

It used to tell you next to your bullet count in Source and 1.6 - guess they removed it.

That's really annoying. Also, I keep getting very large FPS dips. My FPS can maintain a good 50fps+ but then dips to 18 when using cl_showfps 2. It creates a jitter in the gameplay. It's really fucking annoying.

I am running a new videocard I just bought too (6870).

I was actually really good at the original counter strike, with a 300 ping I would still be at or near the top all the time. And I loved using the MAC10.

I got onto Counter Strike Source earlier this year and was just getting creamed. People have gotten leagues better over the past 10 years, kind of like the 1970s Hockey Teams trying to beat the 2012 Hockey Teams lol.

It's not because cl_showfps is actually slowing down the game. It's the game actually having huge FPS dips for no apparent fucking reason.

One change I don't like is when you put your crosshair on a teammate it'll ID them. It's a lot faster in this game, which is nice but the player tag is only visible when you're relatively close to the other guy.

When I'm pubbing I like to know who's going where so if I see that player die I have an indicator of where the enemies are.

I use it also but if I see a group of guys go to long A for example and I'm going Mid or B if I see their names pop up on the kill screen I will head to A or try to flank on long A side. I think radar only shows the zone you're in IIRC.

One. Anything else is interpolated. Use 1 and raise your mouse sensitivity as much as needed.

Custom maps or the default ones? It's possible the custom maps are just poorly optimized. I've had some minor hiccups on a couple of custom maps but the default ones haven't given me a single issue. If it's happening on all maps, along with the CTDs, I would try reinstalling.

It can't be a bad install. This was on a freshly formatted computer with a fresh install of drivers... I don't know what is causing this. I'm about to give up on the game. The crashing is obviously the worst part.

It does, but it shows arrows to teammates in other areas in what direction they are. It's not wonderfully useful, but it has some use.

No

But the thing is, if you ask 100 CS fans what they want you'll get 113 different answers. The important thing to know is that these people will never be happy but they'll bitch despite 300+ hours played. Valve went with the safe road here and did a very minor visual update, slight changes to the hud and hitboxes, but overall it's the same thing. It's changed enough that the die hards whine, but it's not different enough for others to think it "fresh" and worth playing for long.

After a few hours I'm already bored because I've played this before.

But 1 is incredibly low sens in the game. It can't be 1:1 with Windows desktop setting of 6 or am I missing something?

DKCOde, forgetabout desktop sensitivity, use raw input and in windows make sure your mouse acceleration is off.

You wanna adjust the sensitivity as low as possible to suit the way you play. A good rule of thumb I picked up back in 2004 when I started playig CS and Source was to be able to do a full 180 degrees turn from the far left of your mouse pad/mat to the far right.

I think I use 1.76 sensi with my G400 with the middle DPI setting. This means I can turn quick enough if I need to on my icemat2 but also when trying to achieve a stable aim I can do so because the feel of the guns are more stable with a lower sensi, enabling you to side step double tap and then side step back and double tap. All whilst tryin to aim for the head!

Lower yor sensitivity and use settings like I mentioned and you should find you have more control.

YMMV...

Hope some o that helps.. Crouch if in trouble, if spraying aim low but most of all, try to do control bursts or even better, single or double clicks when you're targetting. You'll be way more accurate and you'll get a lot more kills that way. Use cover where you can and obviously use sound!

I'm enjoying GO and going back to Souce just doesn't feel right any more. I do wish they'd sort out a few things. Going spectate and trying to rejoin seems buggy, voting certain things when dead doesn't work. I hope they bring back skin changes for the teams. I also don't want the TAB score screen showing at round end. Seems to block what's being typed for me on my res and I press TAB enough in game to know the score by the end. Minor niggles and mostly I enjoy it.

Oh and yeh, joining servers sometimes takes me back to main menu and having to try again often solves it. That should be sorted. The whole steam server search has been shit since I can remember. Inconsistent hen it searches and doesn't, filters seem tl cause an issue and removes favourites (at least doesn't refresh them but they'll come back soon enough)...
