Counter-Strike: I suck

Learning to spray in CS:S is pretty important because the guns lack stoppage power. If you're facing more than one bad guy you have to spray. Learn the recoil patterns. Mostly by playing a lot. From long distance go with the burst.

Also, footsteps are moderately easy to trace in Counterstrike Source. Don't be afraid to prefire people right before you see them when you are at close range. I don't play much source, but I think you can still use sound to your advantage to wall people.

control your recoil and aim for the head; the deagle is a great way to practice this. HITTING the target is first, killing them is next. shooting as many bullets as you can and hoping to kill them will NOT work

Counter strike- GREAT Game, one of the only games that will be on every box I ever own. I rem when I first started playing at Lan partys I got ROCKED, im talking, i won the "most killed" award everytime...
Just play, and play more...but see if you cant find a Gun Game mod, because you dont have to wait for the reload, and you can use all the guns. I would offer my clan server but we dont host it anymore, but GUN GAME and done play with the goofy wc3 mods or anything else, play regular maps on GUN GAME and you will improve. just give it time. the learning curve is pretty high, but once you get the hang of it, you will enjoy it even more!

To succeed at CS:S you just need to find your own state of zen.

Stay calm and focused. Be like water.

And yeah, don't hold down the mouse button and expect to kill anyone. Short, controlled bursts, making deft and quick use of your surroundings. Be smart, accurate, precise and a very difficult target.

Play against people better than you. Play on servers where everyone is better than you. Study good players. Learn.

Chances are if someone is amazing and you think they're hacking. . . they're not. Sounds, footsteps and subtle clues tell you a LOT about what's going on. Sounds are key. Master sounds.

Before you begin getting used to your mouse, I'd recommend download mouse_fix.reg file to make the mouse move the same speed. XP has built in mouse accel that you can't get rid of without editing the registry.

If your out of flashes, and don't know about the inside of a room jump across the door. If someone fires look for a flash, smoke, grenade, or another entry point. Zombie mod teaches you to look for all of the access points in a room, and to block them, make a barricade, or hide(camp). And make sure to actually aim... not like me sometimes

turning acceleration off in the control panel isn't enough??
