what resolution?

if it's 1280x1024, then something's wrong with your system.

i have nearly the same (except mine's a 2.8) and I get 96FPS at 1280x1024, 6xAA, 8xAF (my GPU isn't overclocked at the moment, as shown in my .sig)

Yeah, 1280x1024. My system runs the game fine.

Wow, I just turned off all antialiasing and anisotrophic filtering. Score went from 49.2fps to 52fps. This new generation of cards is WAY more efficient about AA and AF than the old ones. My 9800 Pro took huge performance hits from AA and AF.

wow.. that's still pretty slow for a 3GHz, 1GB RAM and a 6800GT. what 6800GT do you have?

A PNY. Seems to run the game fine, I don't have a problem with it.

Nebor Probably has vsync turned on for the benchmark, thats why his numbers are so low.

I just did a few bench's my self with the rig in my sig and done with the 66.93 offical drivers with all optimization turned off.

1152x864 2xAAq 8xAF High Quality
132.8

1152x864 4xAA 8xAF High Quality
129.44

1600x1200 0xAA 8xAF High Quailty
106.64

1600x1200 2xAAq 8xAF High Quailty
94.16

Yup, I turned Vsync off and ended up with 94fps with 4xAA and 8xAF, and 104fps with no AA or AF.

I don't understand why someone would actually play the game without vsync...

They wouldn't but with it on everyone would get a little below ~60 with it on for the benchmark like you did.

I thought the 6800's and x800's would have got higher....
I get 55fps at 1024x768 2xAA 16xAF all settings at highest..And 80 at 800x600
With noAA & noAF i get 57 at 1024x768 and 99 at 800x600..
Not much of a hit when i enable AA & AF seens it looks twice as good..
Must be the 256 of ram overclocked 102mhz i know AA uses up the video ram.
My rig....
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
2600+ barton @2209mhz.
2x512mb ddr400 @384mhz in dule channel mode.
80gb ide seagate
SB Audigy 2 zs
Ati 9600xt 256mb @553mhz.core/702mhz.ram.
19inch lg flatron..

happy medium

With slight overclock ,275 core - 375 memory my 64MB, MX 420, [$25.00 videocard] got 62.25 FPS at high detail. ran it 5x with no artifacts. I use the 61.77 drivers. Who needs pretty water for this price. I'm to busy killing and getting killed to notice the jagged textures or whatever. As long as it runs smooth with decent detail I'm happy.

Just for kicks ran at 1280x1024 got 40.07 at high detail

I am getting 110fps in the stress test with everything on max except AA0 AFx2.

It does slow down quite a bit depending on whats going on, usually dropping to the mid 40s in HL2 but never below.

Strange thing is I (criminally - but for testing purposes) had the LuZiFeR release of CS:S and that gave me 130fps with exactly the same settings and drivers. The official release gives me 20fps less....shamefully

Ok here are some of mine.

BTW for what it's worth I've had much better results playing online at a lower res with a much faster refresh rate. (800x600 4xAA and 8xAF)

All World settings set to "High"
My guess is that texture size is negligible after 1024x768 as 8xAF and 16xAF had no impact.

140 Hz Refresh
800x600 0AA Trilinear 189 FPS
800x600 4xAA 8xAF 170 FPS
800x600 4xAA 16xAF 165 FPS

100 Hz refresh
1024x768 0AA Trilinear 181 FPS
1024 x 768 4xAA 8xAF 129 FPS
1024x768 4xAA 16xAF 102 FPS

85 Hz refresh
1280x1024 0AA Trilinear 145 FPS
1280x1024 4xAA 8xAF 88 FPS
1280x1024 4xAA 16xAF 87 FPS

72 Hz Refresh
1600x1200 0AA Trilinear 119FPS
1600x1200 4xAA 8xAF 72 FPS
1600x1200 4xAA 16xAF 72 FPS

And for the insane
68 Hz refresh
2048x1536 0AA Trilinear 75 FPS
2048x1536 4xAA 8xAF 44 FPS
2048x1536 4xAA 16xAF 41 FPS
