Here's some more color.
I was under the impression that Maduro was not arresting Guaido because he was afraid it would provoke an international (US) response. Seems like if he does arrest Guaido, it means he thinks he is in a stronger position.

My hope is that this is not premature and fails. I also hope for as little bloodshed as possible.
With Pompeo/Trump/etc. ready to go with canned statements I tend to think they have a hand in it.I'm sure there are all kinds of posturing and strategies at play by numerous actors. Perhaps Military claiming support for Guaido in order to subvert his schemes or other such actions to subvert one side or another. Hell, US actors may be involved in this alleged acceleration of action for their own purposes. Who knows at this time? The Truth won't be known, most likely, until well after the initial claims are established.

Pompeo is saying that Maduro had planned to flee to Cuba [after hearing he was losing support of the military]...and that apparently, Putin convinced him to stay [possibly because Russia knew Guaido was overstating his hand?]Putin sent people over there to protect Maduro. With Russian EW prowess and heightened tensions, I can see him wanting to skip another costly long slog like Syria, just have Guaido and Lopez killed via bomb, sniper or ambush.
Whenever I see Guaido he doesn't look very mindful of security at all, dude needs to be really careful. Caracas is starting to get nasty, I guess this thing isn't losing steam after all.
